  • Challenge to liberals&conservatives: Four worlds, Four guys who know their stuff and can talk with, at, over, and around each other and stay friends
    Feb 09, 2021
Breaking out of the Trump driven world that so many of my favorites were drawn into and delighted to find this starting with episode 18. In depth knowledge, quick wits, willing to speak their minds and still listen to each other. Got an education about GameStop, venture capital, California recall, click-bait destruction of traditional media, even Draymond Green on the NBA in just three episodes. Those can sound pretty guy-heavy to my ear and I'd like to hear women in the mix, but maybe that's there in other episodes. It's a keeper for now.

The two hosts have a great chemistry, obvious appreciation for each other and nothing seems to be off limits in topics they explore and questions come up. I get a vivid sense of the real people underneath the stereotypes. I'm looking forward to new episodes and hope the dude at the end keeps approving even if he doesn't like talk about pets in prison.

Information that really helps when talking about race to anyone

Consistent high quality stories and information that help me sort out all kinds of things about being white and figuring out to be part of changing the mindless impact of that fact. I especially like how Shereen and Gene and willing to speak openly about how a range of issues strike them emotionally. It is always good reporting, and they speak from the heart, too.

I have lots of ideas and I've gotten some of them off the ground, but none of them to the point of real success. This has been one of the most encouraging podcasts I listen to because it takes me back to moments where my own efforts turned south and gives me ideas about how to move past them and keep going. It's so important to hear how most everything big started as something small and how others have done it. Raz has a way of bringing out the "crunch-time" events.

These stories are so important and we need more

Superb RadioLab storytelling about the institution that has always been one of the most powerful in the country and may presently be the last reliable protector of anything resembling democracy. This is one of the best podcasts out there and it's hard to wait for more.
  • One of the best voices in podcasting getting to the heart of the heart.

I go back again and again just to keep my feet on the ground in the midst of the present political whirlwind. Anna Sale gets to the big stuff, the is pulsing underneath everything and does it with a careful, tender grace. Her respect for people is palpable and that takes them with her into some of their most unsettling difficulties. I come away knowing everyone has a compelling story and feel luck to have heard the ones she brings out.
