Way back in the day when Rick Steves and I were both young travelers soaking up the sights and cultures of Europe, his books were my bible. They gave me an inside track to the Europe that most tourists never see and showed me how to access it at a price that people like me who traveled with backpacks as opposed to suitcases could afford. Quite an incredible feat. As the years have passed, Steves has branched out into many other forms of media in addition to his famous books including TV shows and podcasts which are equally informative and impressive. He has also branched out in terms of the places and types of travel he covers as many in his audience have done. If you are looking for a wealth of informative and practical advice offered up in an entertaining, easily digestible way, in my opinion, Rick Steves is the best guide bar none. To discover the real Europe - authentic and off the beaten track - don't leave home without hearing from him first. You'll be glad you did.
