Submit ReviewOn this week’s episode of There R Giants podcast, I have two short interviews I did with Giants’ prospects Patrick Bailey and Ismael Munguia. I spoke to both at media day just before the new season began (with a little BP noise going on in the background). Bailey begins what is sure to be an important season for him as he climbs to the upper minors for the first time, and hopes to show a better all around offensive game to go with his Gold Glove-winning defense. Munguia, with the help of coach Lipso Nava’s translating, talks about staying strong through a season lost to injury and where his high energy game comes from.
If you’re not a There R Giants’ subscriber, now is a great time to join as the new season gets underway. You can try a free 7-day trial to get going and after that, pay just $6.99 per month.

Get full access to There R Giants at rogermunter.substack.com/subscribeThis week I’m joined by Phil Goyette. Phil writes prospect-based fantasy content for Rotoballer, Baseball Farm and other outlets. And lately he has created a formula, working with Matt Eddy of Baseball America, to estimate “Barrel” percentages and xwOBA for minor league hitters — these are the kinds of “batted ball” stats we’ve come to rely on major league baseball, but the public data is sadly lacking at the minor league level. For Baseball America, Phil is just using the formula to look at the very best performances across the minor leagues, but just for There R Giants he’s kindly run the numbers for the entire system and we talk about them in depth on today’s episode.
Follow Phil on Twitter @PhilOfSports to see all of his great work.
You can follow our discussion much easier if you see the data as well — you can access it via Google Doc here.
