It’s been over 2 years since Joel Quenneville has coached in the NHL, and he’s telling his story for the first time ever right here on the Cam & Strick Podcast. Q stepped down as head coach amid a sexual assault scandal with former Chicago player Kyle Beach and a video coach, and as always Andy asks all the questions we need to know. It’s no spoiler that Joel wants to get back behind a bench and it should come to nobody’s surprise that teams share that interest. Joel Quenneville has 3 Stanley cups and 969 career wins (2nd all time) to his name, coach Q’s legacy speaks for itself. On this episode the boys are joined by maybe the most intelligent guest in podcast history, Joé Juneau. Scoring 100 points in a single season is impressive, but is it more impressive than building a PLANE? This guy did both, earning his aeronautical engineering degree in just three years! (someone tell Cam what that is) He breaks down how close he and the late Chris Simon were, having a tough time being traded from Boston, and playing with legends like Oates, Hasek, and more. Before the interview the boys break down the Zach Hyman controversy over him growing up rich, what nobody is talking about with a possible Stamkos extension, if 100 assists is more impressive than 60 goals and much more. On this episode, the boys are joined by 2010 Canadian Olympic gold medalist and long-time Dallas Star Brendan Morrow. When you think of 1st round picks, you probably think pure skill, no grit. Not the case for this Saskatchewan shitkicker. With nearly 1,000 games, 550+ points, and 6 seasons with over 100 penalty minutes, Morrow is what you think of when you think of an ideal captain. He talks about Modano losing the captaincy and taking the C, his first impressions of Brett Hull, playing with Crosby and Kucherov, plus much more. Before the interview, the boys get into Ovechkin heating back up, where Matthews sits in the MVP conversation, if Torts is becoming too much of a distraction, and more. On this episode, the boys are joined by not only one of the toughest players in hockey history, but one of the toughest athletes out there: Kelly Chase. If there’s anyone with enough stories to join us twice it’s Chaser, and that’s especially true now that he’s fighting the toughest battle of his life. With nearly 1,500 PIMs in his NHL career, there’s no doubt he’s a shit kicker, and he's maintained the same mindset through his recent cancer diagnosis. He talks to us about Tony Twist coming to get him out of the hospital, his mentality facing cancer, what the Blues need to succeed, great Gretzky and Garth Brooks stories, plus much more. Before the interview, the boys break down all things trade deadline including Vegas being Vegas (their controversial longtime usage of LTIR), Carolina finally going for the Cup, the Islanders sitting idle, and much more. On top of a Conn Smythe, Richards played over 1,100 games scoring 932 points including 2 91-point seasons. He joins the show and breaks down his $60 MILLION dollar contract with the Rangers and the eventual buyout, winning it all with both Chicago and Tampa, plus just how Brutal Jon Cooper's training camps were. The 2002 draftee played over 1000 games spread across Dallas, Detroit, Chicago, and Pittsburgh where he’d win back-to-back cups. He breaks down why his tenure in Chicago was short-lived, how it felt to have Crosby hand him the cup, and his work with the Hockey Diversity Alliance, and how being a mixed- affected his life. He also details the imfamous John Vanbiesbrouck situation and the racial comments that led to John being fired and his jersey recently taken down in Sault Ste. Marie. On this episode the boys are joined by Stanley cup champion and FUTURE hall of famer (in our opinion) Steve Larmer. After getting taken in the 6th round of the 1980 NHL draft, the long time Chicago Blackhawk would go on to win rookie of the year and play over 1000 games, and finish 6 points over a point per game. He talks to us about guys smoking cigs while playing, how competitive Ed Belfour was, how he was almost traded for Big Eric Lindros and much more. Before the interview the boys get into the Columbus regime change, Auston Matthews having a shot at 70 goals, and the Penguins absolutely killing it with the Jagr jersey retirement. After being drafted in the NINTH round (which no longer exists) he wouldn’t become a full-time big leaguer until 2009 with the Rangers, at 27 years old. Despite an unusual track to the NHL, he went on to play nearly 500 games, including one 67-point season with the Islanders. Parenteau talked to us about playing in Montreal and Toronto, having Roy, Babs, and Torts as head coaches, and what rookie MacKinnon and Tavares were like. On this special interview episode of The Cam & Strick Podcast, Andy has a one-on-one conversation with Eustace King, the agent for controversial player Mitchell Miller, who has been in the news recently after the Boston Bruins offered and rescinded a contract just days apart. We talk with King about why he decided to take on such a challenging client like Miller, what has transpired the past few days, some new details from what occurred recently and regarding the incident, and more. Some background info on the Mitchell Miller situation: Miller was originally drafted by the Arizona Coyotes in 2020, but had his draft status revoked after details of his guilty plea in 2016 became public for charges of assault and a violation of the Ohio Safe Schools Act against a disabled classmate. Since then, there have been questions about the level of remorse shown by Miller, which the family of the victim says has been minimal.
