When Cara and her husband let a new backup singer into their band, they soon regretted it when he struggled to learn the songs, drank too much at shows, and harassed other band members. Once they decided it wasn’t a good fit, they let him go from the band. After leaving the group, he sent numerous unwanted texts and emails, showed up at their gigs, and became threatening toward the rest of the band. Things escalated when he spread rumors online that the band had wronged him, and reached out to venues the band performed at in hopes of causing more trouble.

Renee met her stalker during her Sophomore year in college.
They were acquaintances, and she mentioned the vacant apartment across from hers. So he moved in immediately, and she often found him staring at her intensely. He also changed his class schedule to match hers, knocked on her door constantly, yelled outside her door when he knew she was home, and followed her when she left her apartment. Sarah was stalked by a woman she met through social media.
A follower commented on Sarah’s Facebook post asking to meet, and because she was female, Sarah didn’t see any red flags. They became friends, but things quickly turned toxic and escalated when she tried to poison Sarah and sabotage her new music tour. When she was confronted, her friend blocked Sarah and posted lies about her on social media. Sarah went no contact for a year, but her stalker continuously messaged her asking for forgiveness until Sarah decided to give her another chance. This backfired when her stalker continued to spread lies about her and stalk her online. The stalker stepped up her antics when she even showed up at Sarah’s children’s school.

Nina Hobson is a former UK police detective who became the target of a man she had arrested for stalking another victim.
After his arrest, he turned his obsession to Nina, sending letters of his fantasies to murder her. Nina left the police force in the early 2000s after she became part of the investigative series, Dispatches: Undercover Copper, where she exposed sexism, apathy, and neglect in the police force. She now runs one of the only female-led investigative firms in the US, and hosts her podcast Code Name: Siren, where she discusses some of the heinous crimes she’s investigated. Nina is here to tell us her story of being stalked by a known predator, and discuss some of the stalking cases she’s dealt with since.
