In this episode, we are going to Chicago to highlight one of the unsung blues heroes in Jimmy Dawkins. Jimmy was one of the progenitors of what came to be known as the Chicago West Side sound. He was associated with other legendary blues artists such as Otis Rush and Magic Sam and one could easily make an argument that he was just as stellar as those guys. Take a journey through Jimmy's prolific output as we cover different periods of his career with a particular stress on how he developed his marvelous guitar sound and find out what makes him so special as a songwriter.

In this episode, we are talking about the band that caused quite a stir back when they emerged on the scene in the late 2000s. In some ways, it might be one of the most hyped-up indie acts of the era, but at the same time, one can easily make a bold claim that the hype was more than justified. It's a band that has the potential to both completely entice the listener or rattle their nerves. One thing is certain, it is the talent of its singer that goes beyond mere descriptions and commands the absolute attention on the part of anyone who stops to listen. Her name is Florence Welch and we are talking about Florence and The Machine.

In this episode, we are talking about a hugely successful band of the seventies which has often been mired in controversy, not due to any of their members' illegal transgressions or rowdy behaviour but rather due to the music they played. In spite of the crowds around the world hanging on their every note, the critics often dismissed them as pompous and pretentious. Many would go even so far as to cite them as the primary reason why punk broke out as a visceral reaction to rock music becoming elitist. However, we want to give you a different perspective on Emerson, Lake and Palmer, a band that at least one of our co-hosts is crazy about and would go to hell and back to defend even if he concedes that some of the criticism was warranted. At the end of the day, there is a reason why the seventies prog rock still lives on in the hearts of so many rock aficionados.

In Episode #37, we are looking at a band that many might argue changed the world of music forever but was rarely given the deserved accolades. While the world still keeps talking about the likes of Sex Pistols and The Clash, it was The Damned that released the first true punk record in England and their overall influence cannot be understated. In addition, we will also give you a glimpse into an evolution of an extremely talented band and discuss the metamorphosis that they underwent from their frantic and humorous punk roots to more sombre post-punk dark vibes of their later records.

In episode 36, one of our co-hosts gets an opportunity to revisit his younger days with a band that may have not flown under everyone's radar but left a wealth of music and creativity behind, often gloriously deviating from the norm while still being firmly planted in the sixties psychedelic movement. We're talking about California based band Spirit who produced some of the most critically acclaimed albums of the era. While they are not the first name that comes to mind when discussing the greats, they have been associated with such luminaries as Ry Cooder, Neil Young and Jimi Hendrix and many would argue that they deserve just as much credit as the aforementioned. If that sounds tantalizing enough, give us a listen.

In today's episode, we decided to delve into an often overlooked band which is none the less hugely influential and considered by many to be the true progenitors of grunge. We're talking about Melvins, a band that often defies expectations and labels and is still going strong nearly four decades into their career. We will also touch upon their significance for the entire grunge scene, notably Nirvana, and present you with three excellent releases that fully display the band's craft and versatility.

Episode #34: We're finally back after an extended holidays break and we couldn't be more excited to bring you another episode of what is arguably one of the bands which defined an era. We're talking about the nineties alt-rock band, Weezer which for better or worse (listen to the episode to find out where we stand) pioneered a particular rock sound that became nearly synonymous with a cultural landscape of mid to late nineties. :)
Thank you all for your wonderful support and we can't be more excited to have you back and hear more of your feedback!!

The last Patreon monthly episode of 2020! Despite this year being exhausting and difficult for the majority of us, we are incredibly thankful for all the support that we've had since day 1. Our patrons never let us down in our monthly polls, so we got the chance to wrap this year up with a rather exciting band that was born during the rise of indie rock music - The Killers!
