Here's a fun episode with snippets from our guests which included Mark Bosnich, Sacha Pisani, Gabriele Marcotti and Venezia's American star Gianluca Busio.
We also take a look back at Mina's and Nicky's reaction right after Italy's final World Cup Qualifier match where they failed to qualify directly for the World Cup, and instead were left to face the dreaded playoffs.
And we laugh at Mina's shout-out to our Chronicles Tifosi with one of her famous limericks.
We'll be back to properly kick off 2022 next week after the first rounds of Serie A for the year!

It's our final Q&A for 2021!
Get your questions in for Mina and Nicky for the Serie A Chronicles Q&A show. Each week we answer your questions tweeted to us at @serieAchronpod using the hashtag #ChroniclesQandA.
This week's questions:
Nicky & Mina, you two are the Serie A Santa. You get to hand out a lump of coal to one player and one coach each and a Panettone to one player and one coach each. Who is on your naughty and nice list so far this season & what flavour Panettone? Buon Natale!
-Panettone Dave (formerly Inter Dave, Hamilton, Canada)
Would it be crazy for Milan to try Theo as a left winger? I mean, he's got everything you want from your winger, plus Rebic has been out for most of the season so far.
-Siddhant (Sagar, India)
Could we see an era of dominance for Inter over the next 5 years? Inzaghi will probably stay that long as will Beppe Marotta. Players can be sold and good replacements brought into the 3-5-2 system even on a budget. Train keeps on going year after year?

In our final Serie A Chronicles "main show" of 2021, we go deep into discussion about the Winter Champions - Campioni d'Inverno - Inter, which is fast becoming Mina's favorite team.
We discuss the Salernitana ownership crisis and whether they will be booted from Serie A after the new year, with their situation compounded by a COVID-19 scare and match postponement amid the Omicron variant wave taking hold in Italy and Europe.
Is Juventus at risk of creeping in to the top 4 now that they're only four points away? And do they lose motivation against smaller teams?
We smash Milan and Napoli together because they played against each other and appear to have the highest chances of being the "anti-Inter" and... should Kessie's disallowed goal have stood?
Mourinho created a blueprint for stopping Gasperini's Atalanta in Roma's Tammy Abraham-inspired counter-attacking masterclass, and then threw it away against Sampdoria in a dull draw.
Maurizio Sarri is an enigma.
And we wrap up the show with the highlight of the year from the best Italian commentary duo: Fabio Caressa and Giuseppe Bergomi.
03:38 Inter
19:34 Salernitana
30:18 Juventus
42:56 Milan and Napoli
61:28 Atalanta and Roma

This week's questions:
Is Serie A losing its identity with almost every team playing high-press attacking football OR is this the best way forward?
-Bully Maguire (New Delhi)
I have been asking people this question for years. If y’all can answer on the next pod. Why do people undervalue Serie A? The answer I commonly get is that it's slow and boring. I understand it's not what it used to be but every league has ups and downs yet Serie A gets more hate.
-Inder Mann (Brooklyn)
Considering Giovanni Simeone’s current form, will he finally find himself a home in Serie A following his loan spell at Hellas and where do you think he will end up?
-Inter Dave (Hamilton, Canada)
Can you let us know in your next Q&A pod what's happened to Juventus's defence this season and what needs to happen for them to stop leaking goals? Did Max Allegri simply inherit a well drilled defence from Antonio Conte and ride its coat tails for five years during his first stint at the club?

It's sunshine and rainbows mixed with doom and gloom this week, as we recorded right after UEFA finally got their balls together for the Champions League RE-draw and worked out which way around they should be! The news is that Inter has Liverpool and Juve takes on Villareal. Nicky and Mina break it down, as well as Inter on the up and up as they take over as the "capolista" atop Serie A from their Milan cousins. Are they there to stay?
Napoli's mental strength is on trial as they slip to fourth after a home loss to the rising Empoli, while Fiorentina and Dušan Vlahović deserve a deep dive, so strap yourself in for a great one as we answer the burning questions: how far can La Viola go with him, and how can they do without him?
Elsewhere, Juventus continues its woe as the bianconeri took the scenic route to the little stadium on the Venetian lagoon, Milan is saved by the ageless Ibrahimovic, Sampdoria compounds Genoa's relegation struggle misery in the Derby della Lanterna, while Nicky is fully aboard the Berardi train for Sassuolo.

Venezia's star midfielder Gianluca Busio joined Mina Rzouki and Nicky Bandini to discuss life in Italy and Serie A since his transfer from Sporting Kansas City in the MLS.
In a wide-ranging interview, the thoughtful Busio talks about why he chose Venezia, the family oriented culture within the club and among the players in the dressing room, the different tactics in Serie A, his Italian roots and connection with his Italian family, and his rapport with the American players in Serie A and in the United States national team.
We also asked Gianluca about his ambitions for the future, which players he likes to watch most, and we find out which is his favorite barbecue in Kansas City!
It was a great insight into the life of a young Serie A player.
Special thanks from the Serie A Chronicles team to Gianluca Busio and to Venezia FC for giving us their time.

This week it was another Inter triplete, this time with 3 goals against former manager Jose Mourinho as his Roma side offered little resistance to the reigning champions, despite an amazing "tifo" from the Olimpico faithful.
We preview our interview with Venezia and USMNT star Gianluca Busio, who spoke to Mina Rzouki and Nicky Bandini about his time in Serie A so far and Sporting Kansas City previously, his Italian roots and his ambitions for the future. It was a wide-ranging and interesting discussion about life as a young player in Serie A, which will be dropping this Friday. You can catch some great snippets here in the main show.
In another crazy goal-fest of a Serie A weekend that saw Milan go top, Napoli slipped back to third behind both Milan clubs after a narrow loss to Gasperini's brilliant Atalanta side in the match of the round which Nicky described as "so effing good!".
We discuss the injuries plaguing some of the league's top players and clubs, and will Dusan Vlahovic decide to stay in Italy or will the likes of Tottenham or Manchester City capture his signature?
Mina was excited about a Juventus victory and Paulo Dybala being awarded Serie A player of the month, as we round up of the rest of the exciting weekend. And then stick in to the end for a tribute to Italy and Juventus legend Paolo Rossi who left us a year ago this week.

24:26 Roma v Inter
49:30 Milan
52:20 Serie A injuries

This week's questions:
Hello, enjoy the show, I was curious to see what you both believe it would take for Milan to feel comfortable competing in the higher tier of the European transfer market again, or to be willing to take a less than stellar compromise to keep quality players like Kessie and Donnarumma? Multiple years of UCL play, or a string of Scudettos? Would a marked improvement only come from something as large as a renewed stadium deal, or the restructuring of Italian Football as a whole?
-Nick McGinn (Brooklyn, New York)
Atalanta are making great progress on their stadium renovation. The outcome will be lovely. Given how difficult new stadiums are in Italy, how did they pull this off so well?
-Daniel (Providence, Rhode Island)
Regarding Vlahovic, just on the off chance he doesn't go to Juve, which seems the most likely destination to me, which club do you think he'd be most suited to in terms of style and squad competition, etc? Is there any chance, say, Bayern or Real could rival the English clubs for him?
-Ted
Hi Mina and Nicky, Been listening to your podcasts since 2 years and love them. Question on Italy's recent games - Mancini has tried Immobile, Belotti and Insigne (false 9) for the central striker. Why doesn’t he try a big target man from the start - Scamacca, Petagna, Lorenzo Lucca (who seems most promising)? Wouldn’t that give something different to the other little players who pass well?
-Kunal Soni (Florida)

Another turbulent weekend of Serie A action as Juventus' poor run continued with a home loss to Atalanta following a Champions League lesson against Chelsea, and, as was requested by a listener... yes, Mina does go on a (very warranted) rant about all of her frustrations regarding her beloved bianconeri.
Keeping with the podcast's Australian connection, this week Nicky and Mina are joined by Melbourne-based Digital Journalist for Stats Perform, Sacha Pisani (@Sachk0), to discuss the latest happenings in the land of calcio. Sacha recently wrote an interesting article about the growing popularity of brand Venezia: From bankruptcy to global fashion icon – the rise of Italy's renaissance team Venezia.
Other topics in focus this week:
Milan fall at home to Sassuolo, who love beating them, with a cracking strike from Gianluca Scamacca. Is he Italy's new hope? Are the wheels falling off the Milan bus coming into Christmas, just as they did around the same time last season?
Does Sacha think Milan can win the league, or will it be Napoli, or Inter?
As well as the progress of the Italian teams in the Champions League, with a chance that all 4 of Juventus, Atalanta, Inter and Milan (albeit only a slight chance for the rossoneri) could make it through the group stage to the next round.
Italy's World Cup Qualification play-off draw against North Macedonia and a potential collision-course with Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal.
And don't miss our teaser about a Serie A player set to join us on the podcast next week!
00:20 Meet Sacha
03:18 Juve: What's wrong with you, stupido?
22:00 Milan v Sassuolo
31:00 Napoli, Milan or Inter?
38:52 Chronicles Tifosi: Mina's limerick
40:48 Italian teams in the Champions League
49:54 Napoli corner
57:50 Round-up: Roma v Torino, Empoli v Fiorentina, Venezia v Inter, upcoming mid-week matches
61:30 Italy's World Cup Qualification draw

This week's questions:
Does the loss of Osimhen remove Napoli from the title race or does it just bring Inter more into it? Can Milan hang on over the duration?
-Andy Heppel (Manchester)
Considering that Milan, Napoli and Inter seem like they will be the top 3 this season, how big would the consequences be financially for Juve, if they don't finish top 4? Would they be forced to sell the likes of Locatelli and Chiesa?
What would your starting 11 be for Italy’s World Cup qualifier play-off matches? I’m hoping Spinazzola is back for the play-offs, playing next to Bonucci, Chiellini, and maybe Bastoni. In midfield, I’d go with Pellegrini, Verratti and Barella. Up front, Zaniolo, Chiesa and Immobile.
-Jeffrey Garofalo (Brooklyn, New York)
