Today we're gonna take a quick detour. Well, a not-so-quick detour, actually. If you haven't heard it, you need to hear the speech Bari Weiss gave at the Federalist Society recently.

If you don't wanna hear my semi-literate, stammering preamble, you can skip ahead to around 11:30.

Her speech, titled "You Are the Last Line of Defense" is the most important piece of content I've consumed in 2023. Please listen. Please, seriously, listen.

Bari Weiss is the founder and editor of The Free Press and host of the podcast Honestly. From 2017 to 2020 Weiss was an opinion writer and editor at The New York Times. Before that, she was an op-ed and book review editor at The Wall Street Journal and a senior editor at Tablet Magazine.

Weiss is the winner of the LA Press Club's 2021 Daniel Pearl Award for Courage and Integrity in Journalism. She is also the winner of the Reason Foundation’s 2018 Bastiat Prize, which honors writing that “best demonstrates the importance of freedom with originality, wit, and eloquence.” In 2019, Vanity Fair called Weiss the Times's "star opinion writer."

Weiss is a proud Pittsburgh native. Her first book, "How to Fight Anti-Semitism," was the winner of a 2019 National Jewish Book Award. She lives with her wife and daughter in Los Angeles.

Today on your favorite retirement podcast, I'm breaking down a really dumb episode of NPR's "Planet Money" podcast. Listening to them make light of the Argentinian inflation crisis made me wanna slap someone, but I thought YOU might find their treatment of the issue interesting. So, because I LOVE YOU and I CARE ABOUT YOU, I put together some excerpts from the episode and broke down some of the ridiculousness I encountered.

Overall, I probably come off like a total dick (and maybe I do in every episode??) but my point is that no matter where you get your content from, it's informed by the bias of the journalists, or whoever's writing/producing/performing. Left or right, up or down, whatever.

Today I'm gonna drone on about some of the signs I've been seeing that tell me we're in for dark times in multiple markets.

I think about retirement all the time. I think about Bitcoin all the time.

I want you to own some Bitcoin for your retirement. I care about you and I don't want you to get left behind when the price of Bitcoin goes absolutely parabolic.

But I also want you to learn about why our current financial system, our political economy, is fucked up beyond repair. Learning about Bitcoin can help you understand our corrupt monetary system. It could change your life.
