We're back for a new season and starting off with another stunning author special. In this episode we were joined by the true human delight that is Henry Fry to discuss his debut novel, 'First Time For Everything', a heart-warming novel which follows protagonist Danny along the pitfalls of finding yourself explored through humour and the importance of queer family. We talked to Henry about his new book along with a lot of chat about festivals, corporate lip service and choosing bottoms or tops for our burger buns...naturally! Henry's book, 'First Time For Everything' is available now- go go go!
And we're back with another banging author! This time we're joined by Calla Henkel to discuss her debut novel 'Other People's Clothes', a darkly comic novel set in the 00's which deals with death, sexuality and toxic friendships. We talked to Calla about her inspo behind the novel and the specific reasons for setting this story against a landscape before the onset of mass social media in our lives- everyone's remembers when they removed their battery from their phone right?! Calla dives in the distinct characterisation of the two friend's in the book and on wanting to give them what they want, even if that outcome may seem perverse. Plus, we dissect the changing obsession people have with true crime and 'dead girl' narratives. We know we've been away for far too long but don't worry we get straight back on our bullshit aka talking about what we've been crying about, love to cry about and will continue to cry about. We give you a big old lowdown of what we've been up to since you last heard from us. Top notes are that Olivia forgot how old she is and Lucy is apparently Benjamin Buttoning. Never fear we also hit all the important queer topics too from JoJo Siwa's new haircut, a new era for the Lionesses, and the renewal of our problematic fave, 'And Just Like That', complete with stunning predictions for S2. Plus, we let you know the importance of both showin' and 'sposin yourself in this the year of our lord 2022.
