Full disclosure - Codie and Thembi have been friends for a quick minute, but as the two of them are busy busy, it's always good to catch up! So let's get into it. Thembi Banks is a  filmmaker, storyteller, wife, and mama. AND when she and Codie had this conversation she was getting ready to make her feature film directorial debut (after having C-19 shut down the first one). Codie and Thembi got real about just how hard it is to find your footing in the entertainment industry. When Codie's husband, Tommy Oliver, was tapped to direct the new Juice WRLD documentary "Juice WRLD: Into the Abyss" she self admittedly knew very little about the global superstar. However, she was quickly pulled into the world of the rapper and his story. As she came to know him she also wondered about his mother, Carmela Wallace, and her story. How did she feel about the documentary? How was she doing after the loss of her son? It was through the documentary that she was able to connect with Carmela, but this conversation cemented her status as one of Codie's New BFF's.

October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month and today Codie has two people near and dear to her heart who have been affected by such. Porsha Summerville, Codie's long time friend from their time at Howard, lost her son Josiah at seven months old. It was this loss that motivated Codie into searching for resources for not only her, but other people navigating this type of grief. It was through that search that she met Felicia whose daughter Kamaiu was born and transitioned on the same day.
