Returning from a break Reforged Podcast are as entertaining as they were before they left. Podcast Recommendation of the day- : Chasm Quest

A fantastic blend of humour with high tension roleplay, these guys have created a fantastic podcast set in a world that has been build with the utmost care. Their DM has managed to find just the right balance of humour and tension so that I find myself laughing with every episode but also dying for the next one to find out how the player/ NPC relationships resolve.

They also put out bonus content episodes with little slices of lighthearted fun where we can see the players let loose a little and just be a bit silly, they still impact the main story but are always a good laugh. Definitely recommend, so go check them out.

An all female Call of Cthulhu (7th edition) game set in the city of Chicago during the prohibition era, full of supernatural horror, organized crime, mystery, intrigue and bootleg booze! Funny but with some genuinely tense moments which will have you hooked and eager for more! 

This was my introduction to the CoC game system and it definitely makes for interesting game play with the sanity mechanic forcing the players to make some difficult role play decisions. Great characters played by the lovely ladies compliment the story bringing their own flavours to each of the new situations they find themselves in. Really enjoying it and I think you will to!

Podcast Recommendation of the day- : Ballad of the Seven Dice

A Homebrew D&D 5e campaign set across several multi-verses, but mostly taking place in Faerun, with heavy Lovecraftian influences this makes for an interesting and down right creepy story. Well crafted characters, vivid descriptions and a story that will hook you immediately this is a definite recommendation from us. 

A lot of work is put into this podcast and it shows, some audio issues early on due to hardware are more than made up for with the effort the DM goes to with fleshing out the story with mini-episodes and filler to give a better look at the world in which the story occurs.

Podcast Recommendation of the day- : The Beholders Eye

Another D&D 5e actual play podcast but with heavy influences from Lovecraftian horror which sets it apart from the average podcast.

Set in a homebrewed city the party take on the roles of private investigators working for "The Beholders Eye" where they must carry out investigations which all seem to be tied to the strange cult goings on in and around the city. A great cast with interesting characters the pace is constantly changing as some episodes feature only a handful of the party at a time as they each break off to carry out their own investigations which allows for different aspects of their characters to shine as well as just being an interesting way to play.

They also have a super catchy opening theme and that's always a plus in my books!

Podcast Recommendation of the day- : Second Best

Not every adventuring party can be the "best", the heroes everyone wants to be, the shining beacons of hope. No, and rightfully so, because if everyone was the best you wouldn't have anyone to go around fixing all the mistakes the heroes make! Which is what the party in Second Best do! They're just slightly too incompetent to be the top heroes, but dammit, they try harder! So why they aren't the top heroes in the land? Is it too much weed? Are they just not bright enough? Do they like knives just a little too much? Or is it a combination of all of these reasons? You'll have to listen in to find out!

The voices behind the cast are all a bunch of New York City improv actors and it really shows in their episodes, these guys are hilarious and believe me when I say they will have you laughing out loud. They don't take themselves too seriously but instead focusing on making each other, and you, laugh out loud.

A brand new podcast created by @Jon_thedm where he introduces his two kids, Kinnick and Kayleigh, to a homebrewed D&D adventure. Listen as their characters, Moonlight and Finner, attempt to complete their final exams and graduate from the adventurers guild as fully qualified adventurers. 

I cannot express enough how much I love this podcast, the kids are hilarious throwing around sass like it was going out of fashion and just really enjoying the game. Jon keeps a loose reign though so that they don't get too far off track while allowing them to play the game the way they want to. Genuinely funny and I cannot wait to hear the rest of their adventures.

Podcast Recommendation of the day- The Broadswords: 

Another young podcast like ourselves but with so much more effort and post production. These ladies have created a wonderful story with some amazing editing leaving you with something that is just to enjoyable to listen to. 

This all female cast bring so much talent to the table I imagine it would be difficult to not enjoy it. Not only that the ladies also put in so much work away from the table it puts the rest of us to shame. Part of that involved the DM Victoria Rogers helping to organise the recent WotC D&D 5e event, the Tome of Foes. The event ran so well and Victoria deserves high praise for her efforts.

Podcast Recommendation of the day- Godsfall: 

Godsfall is long running podcast with an incredibly interesting story. Set in a world where the gods are thought to be dead and magic no longer exists the party we follow must come to terms with the fact that they appear to be exhibiting god like powers and have discovered the ability to use magic.

A well told story with a great cast who have left me laughing out loud, definitely going on my regular listen list, though it may take some time to get caught up as there are currently 85 episodes to work through. Really enjoying it and I think you will too, so check them out!

An adventure guided by professional entertainers that will inspire a morbid curiosity in D&D veterans and newcomers alike.​The podcast itself is well edited with great audio and a well written story. They really make themselves stand out with little things that give the podcast life like specific somatic/ verbal spell components which help to paint a fuller picture and draw you in to their narration.

The characters are well fleshed out with interesting back stories that keep you invested in them as the story progresses.

What is #MinMaxMankind?

So the guys over at the Lawful: Stupid podcast decided that they wanted to see TTRPG podcast hosts doing something to help others, so they created the #MinMaxMankind incentive to get the podcasters and hopefully their listeners to to make some much needed donations to different charities involving gaming.

We have decided that since our podcast has both Brits and an American that we would each donate to a cause from our own country. Gen is donating to Child's Play a charity which revolves around gamers raising money to support sick children.For us Brits we decided to donate to Special Effect a charity who focuses on creating specialized controllers for people with physical disabilities which keep them from being able to play games. While we recorded our announcement we rolled to determine how much we would be donating, we got 3... So we decided to add the number of members of Modified Roll to that and got £9 (or $'s) per person (let's be honest, we'll probably round it up to £10).

If you have a spare few quid or "bucks" I can only ask you donate to either of the above charities or another that is close to your heart, just roll a die of your choice and donate whatever amount it lands on!

Podcast Recommendation of the day- Fate and the Fablemaidens: Fate and the Fablemaidens is a Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition actual-play podcast by four friends who love goofs and games.Under the unpredictable guidance of Fate (Renee Rhodes), three adventurers – Merryweather (Rebecca Eckert), the gnome artificer; Wynni (Laura Hutton), the halfling bard; and Twyddle (Samantha Turley), the changeling barbarian – are thrown together on a fateful trip. When they set sail that day, all they planned for was a relaxing, three-day boat tour – a pleasure cruise. Instead, the world starts falling apart around them – literally.

These ladies are fantastic, the show has a great balance of humor and story and I can't wait to download each episode as it comes out, just a really enjoyable listen.

Podcast Recommendation of the day- BomBARDed: If you're like me then you are incredibly envious of those with musical talent, if you are one of those people then I hate you... OK, so I don't hate you, but I am definitely jealous. Either way this group, BomBARDed, are actually a real life band! They bring their musical abilities to the D&D table by playing as multi class bards who use their talents to give life to their role play. This makes for an engaging listing experience like no other podcast as you they create songs or little riffs to accompany their story. They do throw in a lot of musical "jargon" but do their best to help explain the meanings behind these in little breaks in play where the players go away to create a song for a specific plot point. That's right, they literally write songs for different parts of the story. It's awesome.The music isn't the only draw either, the group are good friends and this really comes through in their interactions with one another as well as being  very funny people with quick wit allowing them to pepper their story with hilarious jokes and references (I am personally a fan of the Monty Python ones).

They are also super active on Twitter so which I believe is always a bonus for a podcast like this.

Podcast Recommendation of the day- D&D is for Nerds: Brought to you by Sanspants Radio, with over 2 years of content to work through this one should keep you entertained for some time. The initial episodes begin with I believe a 3.5e campaign with an experienced DM (Adam Carnevale) who likes nothing more than to punish his players for their ineptitude and slights, perceived or real. The players, Ali, Jackson and Joel, enjoy the game none-the-less and it allows for some high stakes play as unlike other D&D podcasts character death is not taboo but instead gleefully embraced.The one thing I would say that separates this podcast apart from others is after the first long campaign they quickly work through numerous shorter ones. This allows the players and the DM to greater explore the world he has built while constantly rejuvenating the cast of characters (and players) preventing boredom and repetitiveness.Catch them on your podcast player of choice or check out their site at:

Podcast Recommendation of the day- The Adventure Zone: Safe to say one of the most popular and successful D&D podcasts of the last few years, join the The McElroy brothers and their father as they set out to play D&D together for the first time. A quick dip into the pre-written quests for LMoP very quickly launches them into a unique story written by the DM Griffon which allows the rest of the family to quickly develop their characters into ones beloved by the listeners. I can honestly say that the story has made me laugh out loud and brought me to tears, my absolute favourite D&D podcast to date.

An experienced and talented DM brings together an adventure for a group of players of varying levels of experience which, while entertaining in it's own right fully shines through the interactions of the players who have known and worked with one another for years. While the finale of season 1 is a little rushed it is still a great listen with good long episodes to get your teeth into. A quick welcome and message to our new listeners! When we started out making Modified Roll we didn't have all the correct equipment or (in my case) knowledge on how to make a podcast, but we tried our best! If you find the first episode difficult to listen to I would recommend jumping ahead a few episodes to where the quality improves!Alternatively we also have a second season with Jordan stepping into the DM shoes and some new players and characters to boot! So for something different, with good quality from the start, jump in at season 2!
