Folks - we did it. We finally made it to the final episode of this season. It’s been a whole year since we sat down to start this season adventure, and we’re at the end of a season we’ll always remember for Pony Therapy. I mean, there’s so many lessons and thoughts to take away - for example, never meet your idols. Because Star Swirl the Bearded is a complete jerk who is totally out of touch with how friendship works in current Equestria. But even more importantly is the fact that we can’t face darkness alone, and we need help from others to get through. And wow, we’re tearing up just typing those words in, because after a really awful year, it’s a message that really rings true. Hold your friends tight and get ready for one last battle as we discuss “Shadow Play, Part 2” this week on Macintosh & Maud!

It’s finale time for Season 7 and wow do we have one heck of an exposition bomb dropped on us from the very beginning. I mean, it’d just be lying if we said we didn’t put together the fact that all the legendary pony stories we talked about this season were gonna get referenced later. But they start in on the legends and drop a lore bomb for the first act of this episode, cramming as much info as they possibly can into their 30 minute cartoon. It’s a little sloppy for My Little Pony, but it doesn’t hide the fact that Twilight Sparkle is finally going to have to reckon with how she thinks she’s hot shit. Brace for pony lore supreme as we discuss “Shadow Play, Part 1” this week on Macintosh & Maud!

RIght before our season finale, we get this adorable reformed ponysode where all of Starlight’s friends get introduced to our favorite Joel Grey magic pony, Sunburst! Well, introduced isn’t the right word, more like coincidentally bump into Sunburst and then become best friends. Starlight might be a bit jealous, but when your best friend comes to visit and then spends a whole day hanging out and chatting with Maud Pie - something’s a bit off. Starlight’s still dealing with those past friendship feelings something fierce, and her plan to magic her way out of it might be a bit much. Put on your dragon costume and roll the pumice die as we discuss “Uncommon Bond” this week on Macintosh & Maud!

If you’ve watched along with us this whole time, you know that Pinkie Pie can…be a lot. So it’s no surprise this week when Pinkie’s delivery of a pie in celebration of Rainbow Dash’s 73rd Wonderbolt Practice Session might get mixed reviews from Dash. And if it were an isolated case, we might be able to forgive our favorite jock pegasus. But the lengths Rainbow Dash will go to dispose of a pie and the further lengths Pinkie will go to prove her pies are disappearing - it’s a very, very complicated process with a lot of collateral damage, particularly a lovable little tortoise who keeps eating whole pies. Seriously. Roll out some crust and pick your favorite filling as we discuss “Secrets and Pies” this week on Macintosh & Maud!

Good friend and fantastic guest Kristin Devine (Christmastide, OH! Roll to Play! Dice Up Games!) joins us this week on an all-expenses paid vacation in the skies on a luxurious zeppelin cruise! Or at least, that’s what it was billed as when Twilight Sparkle’s mom Twilight Velvet signed the whole family up for a vacation. I mean, who wouldn’t jump at the chance to get away with the whole family? Except they didn’t do the homework, and now they’re stuck on a Princess cruise helmed by absolute fourth-tier pesky villain Iron Will. In between the hijinks, we get ANOTHER PONY THERAPY LESSON - this time about boundaries, and how to find time for yourself in the midst of too much work. Give yourself a little break and have some me time as we talk about “Once Upon a Zeppelin” this week on Macintosh & Maud!

We’re back with our own little filly, Lucy, to talk Cutie Mark Crusaders this week, and their perfect idea of a Cutie Mark Camp! There’s food, fun activities, and finding your purpose - what could go wrong? Well, how about a little foal who’s the brother of a Wonderbolt and who…(checks notes)…doesn’t want a cutie mark. We’re not kidding when this episode attacks the very notion and necessity of Cutie Marks, threatening some very real existential breakdowns for our intrepid CMC’s. That is, until they figure out exactly why this little colt is avoiding getting his cutie mark. Get ready for horseshoe tossing, archery, and haiku writing as we watch “Marks and Recreation” this week on Macintosh & Maud!

Angel Andrews returns this week for the rudest, timeliest episode of My Little Pony we’ve watched for this show. Because of course, in this absolute bonkers year of lockdowns and quarantine, our favorite pony had to go and have a pandemic episode. Yup, Fluttershy is trying to take care of her good friend Zecora after she catches the mystifying “swamp fever” and in the process has to learn some really tough lessons about self-care. And we mean tough - Fluttershy’s running into walls, digging unnecessarily, and getting stung by flash bees, who are no joke. Plus, if that’s not enough, how’s about some cajun ponies? Take some notes and exercise proper pony mask care as we watch “A Health of Information” this week on Macintosh & Maud!

Rarity fan and fantastic guest Kate Harlow (Christmastide, OH) joins us as we discuss the worst mane day ever. And we mean worst. Look, it’s bad enough that Rarity has a mane mishap, we all know how desperately important her coiffure is to her image and brand. But Rarity isn’t in full panic mode over silly string meets super glue getting into her hair. It’s what happens next that is so terrifying, nopony is able to hide their horror. Rarity has to learn some really tough lessons, and in the process finds a quiet confidence even she didn’t know she had. We’re exercising good mane care as we talk about “It Isn’t the Mane Thing About You” this week on Macintosh & Maud!

The awesomely cool friend of the show Morgan Nuncio (The Red Death! Powered by the Players! Streaming!) joins us to talk about the hypest hype team ever, Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie. Dash is mostly dragging Pinkie along, though, after she hears A.K. Yearling might be done writing books and can’t fathom her favorite author not writing…I mean worried about her friend, in general. It’s more than that, though - Daring Do is having a lot of second thoughts about their adventures, and how it might have caused some bigger problems than the immediate issues at hand. We’ve got Daring Do adventure, Dr. Caballeron moustache twirling, and the coolest Egyptian-style pony village in Somnambula, with absolutely awesome new ponies to meet! What happens when you mix Thorax, his grumpy non-transformed brother, and resident Pony Disaster Duo Starlight and Trixie in an episode? Apparently a bunch of hijinks and hilarity. This episode doesn’t really involve any of the Mane Six, and yet it’s low key one of the funniest and most entertaining episodes we’ve seen this season. I mean, Pharynx is just so adorable in how much he hates all the new vibes in the hive. Not to mention that they’re very vulnerable to Maulwurf attacks. It’s up to Starlight and Trixie to figure out how to solve this friendship problem. Preferably without throwing one another under the bus in the process. Tim Devine of the Roll to Play Network and The Red Death joins us to talk about the first real filler episode of MLP we’ve gone through in a long time. Let’s be clear - we’re big fans of the look of these episodes, they’re telling some cool stories. But yowzers does this episode feel slapped together. The chance to meet some Viking ponies or hooved Centurions is pretty great, and we’re always moved by stories like Mistmane’s, teaching that beauty can only be fully embraced when it’s shared with others. But for an episode that (spoiler alert) has some pretty big implications later this season, there’s a lot to be desired. Join us as we laugh at hijinks and side-eye the writers just a bit as we watch “Campfire Tales” this week on Macintosh & Maud!

There’s always a little bit of filler each season, but this episode managed to pack in a great friendship message, Spike shenanigans, and an amazing meta-bit, all at the same time. And also, we get to pit the majestic but a little clueless Thorax with the tactless, blunt honesty of Ember, and OF COURSE it leads to hilarious results. We’re not saying it’s the most groundbreaking episode of My Little Pony, but it’s still a pretty fun time! We’re watching “Triple Threat” this week on Macintosh & Maud!

Up until now, there hasn’t been an episode that directly confronted the issues with the fandom. And we would know, we’ve spent 6 and a seasons watching it. They’ve certainly flirted with the idea, but this week, the fandom is getting called out and it is terrific. The protests of Rarity, the Fluttershy redundancy, the criticism of Twilight’s “character” - it’s all here. But what makes this episode truly great is how the show uses that fun fan service as a springboard to bigger issues with fandoms, criticism, and how adults view a television show meant for the kids. Who watches the Bronies? We do as we watch ”Fame and Misfortune” this week on Macintosh & Maud!

Pony expert Vin LaBate of The Chimera joins us this week for one of My Little Pony’s most emotional and highest-rated episodes, and in the conversation as one of the best episodes in the series. On its face, the Apple siblings are just on a mini-quest to find out what the deal is with Pears and why the Apples hate them so much. But quickly we’re on a path to one of the sweetest love stories ever told, with all the warm, fuzzy, wonderful feelings in tow. And as the writers weave together this little ball of emotions, they also show exactly how much Bright Mac and Pear Butter influenced their little ones, even if they aren’t around today to show us. Discord superfan Sam Turley of Christmastide, Ohio is here this week to talk about our favorite chaotic draconequus. And unlike most Discord episodes, this time, he’s the one needing more introspection and truly growing as a creature. He also is the main character of the entire episode, if you count the six separate Discords in his house at any given time. And yet despite the hijinks, this is one of the most delightful and feelings-filled episodes we’ve had thus far, as Discord realizes Fluttershy wants to be friends with him just as he is, chaos and all. Our Pinkie Pie fan extraordinaire James Anderson joins us once again for hijinks aplenty, this time in Yakyakistan. The yaks are celebrating one of their biggest holidays and Pinkie’s been…”invited” to join in the festivities. There’s vanilla cake, music huts, and stories by the fire, until some ritual stomping triggers an avalanche. That’s when the yaks, stubborn as they are, refuse Pinkie’s help to get their village out from under the snow. And when we say stubborn, we don’t mean some aloof hemming and hawing; we mean Prince Rutherford seems willing to sacrifice his fellow yaks to snow sandwiches and sleeping piles instead of getting some much needed help. We’re dismantling some toxic yak-sculinity (THANKS JAMES!!!) as we watch ”Not Asking for Trouble” this week on Macintosh & Maud!

Friendship problems and the Cutie Map are a mainstay of the past couple seasons, so when Twilight is in a panic-derived shock to start this episode, it seems like overkill. But then you realize that Starlight Glimmer is being called…for a friendship problem…AT CELESTIA AND LUNA’S CASTLE. Sure enough, her worst fears are realized when it turns out the most powerful sisters in Equestria are having some issues. Starlight has some bold ideas of how to help, but pulling a “Freaky Friday” on the two most powerful ponies in the known universe might be more than she can bargain for. This week, Rarity is hosting a fashion show to benefit some up-and-coming designers with huge creativity, and she’s invited fashion’s biggest ponies to judge. There’s Photo Finish, Hoity Toity and…Applejack? Yep, Rarity’s actually got an interesting idea of how to bring Applejack’s honesty and practicality to the design competition. But Applejack instead thinks it’s gonna be a competition for who can make the best clothes Applejack would wear, and that prompts a series of misadventures and fashion faux pas of epic proportions. It’s another Rarity vs. Applejack episode, but this time, Applejack’s the pony at fault. We’re watching ”Honest Apple” this week on Macintosh & Maud!

Returning guest Kent Blue of the Roll to Play Network is our guest for the most adorable and ridiculous episode of the season so far. Adorable, because Big Mac has a crush on a pony from Starlight’s old village, and the awkward sweetness is just lovely. Ridiculous, because there’s a rival for Big Mac’s potential pony love, and HE LOOKS AND SOUNDS LIKE JUSTIN BIEBER. Not even joking, he’s got ridiculous 2010’s bangs and likes to flip his hair. It’s one of the best one-off ponies we’ve met so far, and it’s all going to culminate in one heck of a musical number. We’re watching ”Hard to Say Anything” this week on Macintosh & Maud!

The amazing and delightful Evan Tess Murray of This Planet Needs a Name and Light Hearts joins us this week for some serious Pony Therapy and ridiculous sight gags as Scootaloo slingshots her way (literally) into Dash’s parents’ house. They’re instant BFF’s, since Bow Hothoof and Windy Whistles are truly bigger fans of Rainbow Dash than even Scootaloo, and that takes effort. In fact, they’re such big fans that Rainbow Dash has maybe kinda sorta not decided to tell her parents that SHE’S A WONDERBOLT. To be a little fair to Dash, they’re A LOT, but reaching a balance doesn’t mean hiding things from people who’ve given you the confidence to be how awesome you are. This week we’re back with an episode about the most polarizing pony in our long review of these ponysodes. Yep, it’s Rarity time, and once again, it’s time for Macintosh to try to defend Rarity in her obnoxious friendship decisions. Specifically, she’s all up in Sweetie Belle’s business after realizing her time at the different shops has left her with little to no time with her little sister. Which is sweet and lovely, but Rarity doesn’t understand that the Sweetie Belle she took to puppet shows or dress-up photo shoots is a little bit older with all new interests. So of course, her good intentions are paved instead with selfishness…and boredom for Sweetie Belle. We watch ”Forever Filly” this week on Macintosh & Maud!

The outstanding return guest Claudia Elvidge, creator of The Beacon and Soulborn City, joins us to talk about FLUTTERSHY BEING ASSERTIVE AND WE LOVE IT. We’re outspokenly pro-Fluttershy on this show, and we especially love watching Fluttershy’s growth as a pony. So this episode is an absolute delight, as she finally has a reason to pursue her biggest ambition - making a sanctuary for all the adorable critters in Ponyville. Fluttershy has a vision and a dream board, and she’s not letting anypony, even expert ponies, tell her how to make her vision a reality. Our namesake has returned. It’s time for Maud Pie’s episode. Or, should we say, Doctor Pie, because Maud has achieved her dream - she has a rocktorate. And now, after having done so much hard work over so many long hours at the rock farm, Maud is ready to find a new place to settle. Will she choose Ghastly Gorge, with its amazing assortment of jasper emerald? Or is Maud looking for something more than amazing rocks…like maybe friendship? Her sister Pinkie is certainly up to the task, but will Pinkie go too far and get in the way of a budding friendship. We’ll find out as we watch ”Rock Solid Friendship” this week on Macintosh & Maud!

In most other seasons we might write this off as a filler episode. It’s certainly not a pinnacle moment for the show. BUT FLURRY HEART IS SO ADORABLE SO WHO CARES. Seriously, this li’l foal is the most adorable pony that ever did pony in Equestria, and this episode is her moment to shine. Sometimes literally! And also, Twilight has to learn that being a good, responsible aunt means not trying to also do twelve other things when all your cute as a button niece just wants to play bears. Hey, everyone. We are enraged and heartbroken by the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, David McAtee, and countless other innocent lives, and the violent police actions against protestors in our country. Black lives matter.
The situation in our country is grave, and while we hope we can be something light for anyone who needs it, we do not want to take away from the important work of activists and protestors fighting against police brutality.
If you are able, please donate to one of the many local or national bail funds listed from the National Bail Fund Network at https://www.communityjusticeexchange.org/nbfn-directory, or consider donating to a local mutual aid organization in your area.
Thank you.

Jon Baley (Gumbie Cat Networks!) joins us for part 2 of our finale, chronicling the exploits of our redeemed pony villains as they face Queen Chrysalis - without magic. That’s right, Starlight and Discord are both unable to use their superpowered skills to save everypony, and it’s going to take some real ingenuity and courage to figure out a way to win this battle. Is Starlight up to the task? Can Discord get past his arrogance and single pursuit of FLuttershy? Will Trixie’s sleight-of-hand hijinks be partially responsible for defeating the Changeling Army? We’re kicking off our season finale solo this week as we focus on a fearsome foursome of secondary characters responsible for saving Equestria! Starlight Glimmer’s going back to her old village to help with a festival, but after a meltdown, she comes back to find Ponyville…acting weird. And she’s right to be concerned - it turns out some nefarious plans of Queen Chrysalis are afoot. The Changeling Army is back and plotting to take down the princesses, and it’s up to Starlight to figure out how to save everypony. But the newest crop of Wonderbolt hopefuls have two promising candidates who also have a friendship problem that’s a little more complex than we’ve ever seen. 4-time repeat guest James Anderson joins us this week to examine some pony hijinks through the eyes of three very different horsepectives. Rarity, Pinkie Pie, and Applejack are embarking on a fun jaunt in the sea, but when they get back, they’re no longer on speaking terms. And if that’s not bad enough, each has a different story about what went wrong on the sea, with some unique embellishments. It’s up to Twilight and Spike to get to the truth of the matter and figure out how to reunite these friends. We review “P.P.O.V. (Pony Point of View)” on this episode of Macintosh & Maud!

Eddie Louise Parker of Sage and Savant joins us this week for a very special Starlight Glimmer episode. Special in the sense that she’s about to unleash some Amelia Bedelia-level hijinks in Twilight’s castle. Twilight’s impressed with her new student’s magical abilities (duh) but when it comes to friendship lessons, Starlight has some work to do. And of course, she makes the absolute best decision by brainwashing her friends to make their lesson time that much more efficient! Right?! Applejack’s getting trained up to take down her loudmouth cousin Braeburn at Ponyville’s hottest sport, buckball. But when Dash and AJ start looking for a unicorn, they suddenly realize Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy are absolute buckball stars in the making. And if you think having the two most competitive ponies trainthe the two least competitive ponies won’t cause some hijinks, you clearly haven’t seen this show. We’re joined by repeat guest Sam Turley of Fate and the Fablemaidens this week for an episode we’ve been so excited for. It’s a Discord episode, so already you know you’re in for a nice dose of chaos magic. Then you add Big Mac and Spike to the mix for a “guys’ night” that, all in all, seems fairly innocuous as such things go. But what’s the special secret to this episode? It’s Ogres & Oubliettes, a nice little fantasy tabletop RPG that makes this episode truly special. Welcome to a digression-filled, chaos-magic-riddled, D&D lovefest! Rachel Rauch, creator of the upcoming Medusa Gorgon’s Academy, is with us this week to share some big feels as Spike makes a new friend that tests the limits of the Friendship Kingdom. The writers take a bit of a sledgehammer to an issue that could use a little more fine chiseling, but nevertheless, this episode is a major turning point in the series and asks really tough questions about how you stand up for your friends, no matter how risky that may seem. Plus, it’s a Spike episode, so shenanigans and quick retorts always abound. We’re talking about “The Times They Are a Changeling” this week on Macintosh & Maud!

Claudia Elvidge, creator of The Beacon and Soulborn City, joins us this week to talk about maybe the creepiest ponysode we’ve covered yet. In retrospect, it’s mostly cute and hilarious, but the animators really went all out in creating some truly messed up effects and styling for these prank cookie zomponies. Rainbow Dash may never prank again after the horror she’s subjected to, but on the other hand, how do you stop a pony from randomly pranking other ponies, sometimes just flat-out assaulting them? You see if Pinkie Pie’s got a meeting available in between baking cupcakes at Sugarcube Corner. We review “28 Pranks Later” this week on Macintosh & Maud!

We’re joined this week by a very special guest, Lucy, the Apple Bloom to our Sweet Apple Acres here at Mac & Maud HQ, because it’s a Cutie Mark Crusaders episode! Or at least, it should be, but when the Crusaders ask their grown-up counterparts to help with a derby racer challenge, they start to take over the whole shebang. Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo, and Apple Bloom all have different ideas of how they want to race, and their sister ponies have shoved them out of the process almost entirely. Inevitably, things are bound to go badly, and it’s entirely possible that the CMC’s are going to have to save the day once again. Join us for a special Crusaders-sode this week on Macintosh & Maud!

Morgan Nuncio of The Red Deathfor another of the occasionally not great, kind of bad, really problematic episodes of My Little Pony that comes up from time to time. We love this show but it sometimes tries to tread into territory it’s not really equipped to talk about. Like food from non-white cultures, or appropriating cultural identities, or even just treating people with respect for their own way of doing things, RARITY. This episode isn’t one of MLP’s best, but it does offer us the chance to meet some new ponies and, for good or worse, knock Rarity down a peg. It’s been a while since we visited the Dragon Kingdom, and we’ve got a great reason as Spike’s been summoned by the Dragon King, which involves bright glowing and a slight itching/burning sensation. More importantly, though, Spike’s not interested in competing to take over the kingdom like the other dragons, but has to join in after he hears the dragons’ plans to take over Equestria. It’s a very, very special this week as Lindsey Nelsen of Historical Hotties joins us for not just a Pinkie-sode, not just a Rarity-sode, but a Maud Pie EPISODE. Maud is getting her rocktorate (yes, we are giggling like children) in Manehattan, and Pinkie’s headed out to share her “PSSD” with Maud - Pie Sister Swap Day! Rarity’s tagging along to look for a new storefront for her business, but when Pinkie enlists her to find an amazing gift for Maud, Rarity will have to test her will and spirits against the relentless, rock-solid (get it?) stoicism of Maud Pie. Hijinks ensue, party cannons explode, and sisterly love abounds in this latest installment of the two polar opposite Pie Sisters. We review “The Gift of the Maud Pie” this week on Macintosh & Maud!

We’re back for part two of our premiere, and damn did things escalate quickly. It was all fun and games with the wild alicorn baby until THE CRYSTAL HEART GOT SHATTERED. Now, it’s a race against time to figure out how to fuse the heart back together or perish in a freak snowstorm. But with little to no clues, it’s going to take a certain special somepony to find a spell powerful enough to restore the Crystal Heart. Meanwhile, Starlight Glimmer’s feeling pretty bummed about her friendship lesson, until she sees that Sunburst might just be struggling with the same feelings she’s been having…and that he might just be the right pony for a very important job. Enjoy “The Crystalling, Part 2”!

Macintosh & Maud is back for Season 6! And what a season 6 this will be - lots of guests, tons of great ponies, and a whole lot of episodes that Macintosh & Maud aren’t as familiar with. We’re kicking off season one with a two-parter that starts off celebrating a new royal baby and Twilight planning Starlight Glimmer’s first friendship lesson. And while seeing a new royal baby is exciting, Starlight is definitely concerned about trying to reconnect with her old friend, Sunburst. Starlight is scared of facing a powerful and highly regarded wizard, but it turns out that the new baby might be the bigger issue at hand. Get ready for an awesome season of Macintosh & Maud with “The Crystalling, Part 1”!

In the course of making these seasons, we tend to find a lot of joy, laughter, and silliness from this show, but on occasion it hits right at our hearts. This finale, though, hits so close and with such depth, that it might just be one of the best episodes of this show. To take a villain, a pony that Twilight cannot defeat, and instead try to help her rediscover the magic of friendship, just cuts through whatever cynicism and coldness you might feel about friendship and love for others. This is a really good episode, y'all - enjoy the conclusion of our two-episode season finale as we watch "The Cutie Re-Mark, Part 2."

We're joined by the amazing Whitney and Lindsey Nelsen (Historical Hotties! Myth Takes!) to talk about the glammest pony pop star we've ever had on this show: Countess Coloratura. Turns out, though, that Applejack knows her from her days at Camp Friendship - as Rara. Thus begins a battle between Rara's manager, Svengallop, and Applejack's memories of her shy, quiet friend. In the process, Applejack might just help a good friend reconnect with her past and find her own way forward. Oh, and Rara can sing, play, and dance like Lady Gaga, so there's that too. Twilight finally gets the chance to set off on a Cutie Map adventure, this time to the Smokey Mountains! Fluttershy’s getting called along as well, which she’s not terribly keen on, even though she puts her best hoof forward. Twilight’s in for a bit of a shock, though - her friendship playbook might not be the solution to a long-standing war of words, hay, and produce between two rival families. The Smokeys are supposed to be one of the most beautiful places in Equestria, but something has gone terribly, terribly wrong. And it’s up to Fluttershy to save it, since Twilight’s a little preoccupied with her pre-planned solutions. We review “The Hooffields and McColts” this week on Macintosh & Maud!

This week, we’re off to celebrate Hearth’s Warming Eve at the Pie Rock Farm! Pinkie Pie and Applejack are celebrating being (maybe) cousins by bringing the Pie and Apple families together, but things get derailed pretty quickly. Applejack’s pretty dang judgmental about holiday traditions, while Pinkie Pie desperately tries to hold things together. Funny enough, though, the two families get along pretty well until Applejack decides to upend everything. Will this Hearth’s Warming Eve be the worst or the best ever? Content Warning: We directly confront disrespectful and transphobic tropes used in this episode of My Little Pony (a stallion dresses in drag, which is used mostly for comedic purposes). While many of these moments are mild in nature, some of this content may be upsetting to some listeners. Please take care of yourselves and do not listen to this episode until you feel safe doing so. Thank you.

Every season or so of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, an episode comes along that has not aged well. This episode in particular sees Big Macintosh wanting to re-connect with Apple Bloom so much that he’s willing to dress in drag to be her partner at the Sisterhooves Social. The gesture is, as Sweetie Belle points out: “Sweet. Weird, but sweet.” Except that the writers missed the mark badly by leaning into the drag tropes and jokes waaaaaay too hard. And yet despite that layer of ickiness, the final scene of the episode sees Big Macintosh open up his sweet stallion heart to his little sister, feeling a little overshadowed by Applejack. As problematic as this episode is, it’s super sweet and meaningful to see this experience open Big Mac up to share his feelings. This week we review a problematic pony fave, “Brotherhooves Social.”

Kate Harlow a/k/a @ArgonKitten of Kids on Bikes Podcast joins us this week for our first official Rarity episode of the season! Rarity seems to have learned from her past friendship problems, and her fashion business is doing pretty great as well. So naturally, she wants to expand into the next adventure - the fashion hub of Canterlot! Rarity obviously can’t handle things on her own, so she’s invited a new pony to manage things in Canterlot, a well-known but not exactly successful fashion pony, Sassy Saddles. Sassy has some ideas on how to make Rarity’s new location a success…but it might just destroy Rarity’s joy for fashion. Find out how Rarity retains her inspiration this week on Macintosh & Maud!

She’s been enjoying a little downtime after a really crazy few weeks of Princess duties, only for Spike to remind her just how horrible a friend she was in Canterlot before Celestia sent her on assignment to Ponyville. And when we say horrible, we really mean it - she can’t remember the name of a single friend she used to have. Pinkie decides she needs to trek across Equestria to find a way to help these potential yak friends enjoy themselves, but back at home things keep getting smashed as Twilight and the rest of the Mane 6 try to keep Ponyville intact. That’s right, Tree Hugger has arrived with her magnificent dreadmane and her meditation whinnies. As with any Discord episode, there’s a TON of sight gags and chaos that ensues, and an almost-turn-to-villainy that comes out of nowhere. Well, not nowhere - Discord’s super jealous of this new friend of Fluttershy, so his instincts kick in. Enjoy our review of “Make New Friends but Keep Discord!"

This week Elizabeth Nordenholt of Your Fave is Problematic and FMK All Day joins us as we head back over to Appleoosa for the rodeo! It seems like every time we go out west to Cousin Braeburn Apple’s hometown, something awkward or problematic happens, and this week is no exception. I mean, just because a pony is clumsy, it doesn’t mean he’s also a filly-napper and public menace. Although, as Liz points out, the Cutie Mark Crusaders aren’t exactly too aware of stranger danger. Grab your torches and pitchforks and head on out to the hay bale stacking contest this week on Macintosh & Maud!

In winter, tortoises crawl into their shells and hibernate until spring. This is a fact of nature. Rainbow Dash, though, is not prepared to face that truth because she needs her best friend Tank to go play horse hockey and sled down hills in the snow. And let’s just say Dash is struggling to come to terms with her friend needing to sleep for several months. Kids on Bikes Podcast GM Daniel Spencer joins us this week to talk about MLP S5E5: “Tanks for the Memories!”

In all their time trying to find their cutie marks, you’d think the Crusaders would have considered the possibility of getting a cutie mark they weren’t entirely excited about. But Apple Bloom is confronted with that fear and we’re buckled in for one hell of a ride. Our very own Apple Bloom, Lucy, joins us this week to talk about pest ponies, Twittermites, Lucy’s new laundry-themed pony name, and the Nightmare Apple Family’s weird voice/body changes. It’s all here in this week’s episode of Macintosh & Maud!

It’s our first guest of the season as Amity Armstrong of The Latecomers Podcast joins us this week to talk about “Castle Sweet Castle”! Twilight’s doing just about everything to avoid being in her new castle, which is starting to get on everypony else’s nerves. It turns out Twilight’s just not feeling settled in her new castle, and the rest of the Mane Six offers to give her that homey feeling she’s looking for. With five different ponies in the room, though, it’s pretty clear that we’re going to have some conflict. Meanwhile, Amity and Maud share their antipathy for Rarity “Scarlett O’Hara” the Unicorn, Rainbow Dash is being VERY extra, and Amity selects a new RandoPony.™ We’ll make sure to make you feel right at home.

We’re here! We’re back! It’s time for a whole new season of ponies! And what better way to start than by [checks notes] watching the Mane 6 get abducted by a CULT??!!?! Season 5 starts off by exploding the ponies’ whole world by revealing the Cutie Map and signaling the Mane 6 to go to a village at the furthest edge of Equestria. Once the ponies get there, though, everything seems fine. I mean, it seems fine if you’re an earnest Pony Princess who doesn’t recognize brainwashed ponies when you see them. What darkness awaits when our pony friends finally discover the danger they’re facing? You’ll have to find out in our first episode of the new season!

The Mane 6 are suddenly powerless after being stripped of their cutie marks by Starlight Glimmer and that…that’s not great. Despite their best efforts they’re losing the ability to practice their special skills. Yet one pony in particular, who often tries to see the best in everypony, will emerge as the best chance to restore the power of cutie marks to the walking Stepford ponies milling about in this town. When Pinkie Pie can’t tell jokes, Rarity can’t discern good fashion, and Applejack’s lost her ability to deliver country-isms, something’s gotta give. Come on in for the exciting conclusion to this two-part season premiere!

We’ve finished Season 4, so it’s time for Macintosh & Maud to weigh in on what we love and hated this season. Except we DIDN’T hate anything this season, because it was all soooooo good! We hand out our trophies for Mane 6 (plus Spike) moments, our favorite Mane 6 pony, our favorite episode, and most importantly, the Best Randopony of Season 4! Enjoy our wrap up of the season before we take a quick break to get ready for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic’s Season 5!

All the ponies in Equestria have arrived to celebrate the horsepower (hehehe) of all the athletes in the realm. Gryphons, ponies and even dragons are welcome, particularly one cute purple baby dragon with a penchant for colorful gems. In fact, Spike is so revered in the Crystal Kingdom he’s become something of a hero, and that offers him some unique opportunities. Like lighting the torch at the opening ceremonies for the Games, which should be a cinch for Spike…that is until he sees just how many ponies are watching. We’ve heard of nerves before, but losing your ability to breathe fire? Spike’s got some serious problems he’s gotta work through…

Jon Baley of Popcorn Junkies and Living in the Stacks joins us this week for a full-on Rarity showdown as Macintosh fights to uphold Rarity’s name while Maud’s got missiles locked and loaded to expose her “true” nature. Turns out, though, that this episode has a lot more to say about Spike than anyone else in the Mane Six, despite Rarity being the comedic foil for the episode. Owlowiscious tries to warn us, but we’re opening the spooky gates and taking away the secret book from Twilight’s library to bring you our review of “Inspiration Manifestation.”

It’s been a little while since the whole Mane Six was together for a single episode, so it’s time for a mini-adventure! Sure, it’s filler before we hit a real big stretch for the end of the season, but this is some adorable filler. Rainbow Dash pulls off the trade of the century, Rarity and Applejack fight over who’s a better friend (WHAT A SHOCK) and Pinkie Pie is putting the hard sell on some of Twilight’s books. Get your best items together to trade for this totally awesome episode!

Dash is in a bit of a pickle this week trying to study for her Wonderbolts history test, and Twilight Sparkle knows just the person to help. At least, she thinks she does, until she discovers Rainbow Dash isn’t that great with traditional study methods. When the rest of the Mane 6 gets involved, it appears that passing this test is too lofty for the clouds…that is, until Dash reveals her secret studying style. And if that’s not enough to pique your interest, PINKIE PIE RAPS IN THIS EPISODE. It’s a fun stand-alone episode this week on Macintsoh & Maud!
