Following the Victorian state budget which has seen a raft of big money investments in infrastructure, education, and crime, St Kilda Film Festival director Paul Harris joins us to consider whether enough is being invested into Victoria's Arts sector. We discuss the best ways to foster emerging Australian talent in the screen industry as well as looking ahead to the St Kilda Film Festival, which has a program full of short films, workshops and even virtual reality.

Well on track to gross a cool $1 billion worldwide, the hype is real for 'Black Panther'. While fans have been clamouring for some meaningful black representation in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Ryan Coogler's tale of the King of Wakanda does plenty more to separate itself from the cookie-cutter tropes of comic book movies to ensure compelling viewing.

Melbourne Women in Film Festival Deputy Director Kirsten Stevens returns alongside Whitney Monaghan ahead of their festival next weekend. Plus we also discuss how film criticism can adapt in the wake of the #MeToo movement.

Also, last weekend we were down in Rosebud for the Peninsula Film Festival where we caught a screening of Australian indie comedy 'That's Not Me' plus a Q and A with writer David Erdstein, writer and star Alice Foulcher, and actress Isabel Lucas, hosted by Lachy Hulme. We also caught up with coming prodigious Perth talent Radheya Jegatheva, whose film 'Irony' saw him win the festival award for Emerging Animator. Finally, Festival Director Steve Bastoni and Festival Producer Meg Pascoe were good enough to reflect on the event.
