Submit ReviewAshley, Lauren, and Naz are back together for their first ramble in a long time, so they've got a ton of stuff on their minds. Like, what's up with kids today and Mickey Mouse? And is it tacky to give guests tours of your house? Ashley can't believe how crazy it is that the car has only been around for 150 years, and really, that's barely a blip in our timeline. And honestly, what's the deal with our ears? Are we just aliens? . . . Okay, maybe we should have called this one, "We Swear We're Not High."

This week we are so excited to welcome the absolutely brilliant Melissa Urban to I Don’t Get It. Melissa is the founder and CEO of Whole30 and a seven-time New York Times bestselling author. She joined Ashley, Lauren, and Naz to talk about her most recent book, the paradigm-shifting The Book of Boundaries: Set the Limits That Will Set You Free. They talk with Melissa about what makes boundary-setting feel so scary, and why it’s so important to get comfortable setting them. They also talk about how to reframe your thinking if you’re someone who feels anxious around the idea of other people setting boundaries that might affect you. Then, Melissa suggests some effective strategies for setting boundaries around specific areas of your life, including work, social media, friends, and even with your children.

Naz is back from her birthday week off, and she’s catching Lauren up on all the incredible experiences she had between her visit to past I Don’t Get It guest, spiritual activator Oliver Nino and a stay at her favorite bed and breakfast in Hawaii. The trip brought up a few travel I Don’t Get Its that have us thinking about how much attitude and mood matter and affect the way we move through the world. Naz wonders what the rules are when someone tells you a story you already know, and Lauren wants to know if it’s rude to show up to someone’s house with a fresh coffee if you didn’t bring them one, too. Naz talks about her new favorite car and convinces Lauren to watch Succession using only one line from the show.

Naz is off celebrating her birthday by staring gorillas in the eye or whatever it is she gets up, so the Iaconetti sisters are on their own this week. Ashley and Lauren are catching you up on everything that's been going on in the world of entertainment the last few days. Lauren doesn't get why we all want to be the first to discover the next big thing way before everyone else, but she and Lauren have a pretty good track record of it (Pete Davidson, The 1975, Aaron Tveit, the list goes on), so Ashley thinks maybe she missed her calling as a talent scout. Lauren doesn't get the way beauty influencers talk about skincare products. We KNOW it melts into the skin. Where else are you putting it? Ashley has MANY thoughts about the new Jonas Brothers single and she also makes a brave confession about the Taylor Swift Eras tour. Lauren's breaking down all the recent eyebrow-raising not-drama of Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber and that video of Harry Styles and Emily Ratajkowski kissing in Tokyo. And Lauren and Ashley wonder what's worse: being boring or being annoying. What do you think? Let us know!

The I Don't Get It ladies are rambling and ranting with the best of them this week! Lauren and Ashley talk about their trip to New York, and they don't get why everything feels so claustrophobic there. Ashley tells us what seeing the Jonas Brothers feels like when you're a married woman with a baby at home. We discuss the recent trend of celebrities like Blac Chyna reversing the work they've had done. Naz suggests everyone should have a "Filler Friend" to tell them if they've gone too far. She also talks about a photoshoot she did recently, and Lauren pages through some 70s Playboys she picked up on Ebay. (Have we mentioned you can watch the video version of our podcast on Patreon now? Adrienne Gallagher is an entrepenuer who owns her own business, DC Graze, but she's on I Don't Get It this week to talk about something we've heard you guys asking about a lot: divorce. Adrienne has a unique story, but it's also one we think a lot of people will relate to. She's open, honest, and totally candid about her experience of getting married, having kids, and realizing she wasn't married to The One. Adrienne has a lot of insight about dealing with that life change and also about getting back into dating as a 33 year old mom. We love that she came by to share her journey with us. We hope you love her too! Treat yourself to the best shapewear on the market and save 20% Off at honeylove.com with the code GETIT. We're back with a ramble, and we're asking lots of questions this week. This episode is all about growing up and looking back. Is our generation just more nostalgic than our parents? Ashley's been thinking about bringing back the best of Y2K with inflatable furniture, novelty lamps, and belly button rings. Lauren thinks maybe being a kid was just more fun for us. Ashley updates us on how things have changed at Chuck E. Cheese, and it's definitely for the worse. Naz tells us about meeting Jon Favreau and asking him a very important question: Do you say "Cows!" when you see cows? We want to know what you guys order when you go out to eat. Will you get something you can make at home, or does it have to be something more complex to feel like it's worth ordering? We wrap up with some more reminiscing. What's the most nostalgic snack? Is it an Auntie Anne's soft pretzel from the mall? An Otis Spunkmeyer cookie from the cafeteria at your school? GET $5 OFF a Lume Starter Pack with code GETIT at LumeDeodorant.com

Ashley had a tough time with some work stuff this week that got her thinking about those times in grade school when you got called on in class and weren’t ready to answer. Naz swears it’s all about that lack of sleep, which she says is even more important to her than water. Ashley updates us on the sleep situation with Dawson. She’s deep in the sleep training debate, and she breaks down the various perspectives on it. On the one hand, some people say letting your baby cry at night is going to leave them feeling abandoned. Others think that quality sleep for you and your baby are necessary to be a functioning family together. It’s a tough conversation with a lot of nuance, and it leads to some bigger questions about motherhood in general. Lauren and Naz wonder if they’d be able to give up the more comfortable parts of their lives. Lauren thinks maybe she’s just too set in her ways. Naz says she’s okay with the idea of being a mom in her 40s, so she’s not in a huge hurry. This leads to talk about childhood, in general, and Ashley and Naz share two of the most embarrassing moments from elementary school. And of course, you can’t talk about elementary school without talking about Lisa Frank. Naz thinks she should have a museum. And now we’re on a mission to get her on the podcast. To close things out, Lauren wants everyone to stop pretending like every dead person was a perfect angel when they were alive. Let’s just be real. Not everyone's smile lights up a room. And that's okay.

The week's ramble takes us down memory lane. Lauren's reporting live from her mom's kitchen, which means there are about a million 90s-style chickens all over the place. Ashley and Lauren tell some stories about crushing on the same guys, and Ashley explains why that makes her relate to unlikely characters in rom-coms. Naz talks about interviewing Keanu Reeves and Ashley tells us all about meeting Tom Brady. Those two men are such good examples of good people deserving all the success they have. Naz checks in about a huge breakthrough she had in therapy recently, which has been so helpful, but it also says a lot about how different parenting and children's mental health is these days. Lauren's on a big read the room kick lately. She thinks it's a skill you can learn, but Naz thinks it's someting you have to be born with. We've got an incredible guest this week! Jessica Lanyadoo is a humanistic astrologer, psychic medium, tarot reader, and animal communicator. She's the host of Ghost of a Podcast and the author of Astrology For Real Relationships. She joined us to talk about dead people jumping into her body, drawing boundaries for pushy spirits, and, most importantly, she helped us communicate with Lauren and Ashley's pups, Gurgi and Lois. Jessica is such a unique and fun person, and this episode is an absolute blast. Warning that the details of a suicide are discussed from 9:00 to 10:30. Feel free to skip ahead if you'd like to avoid that.
