Yet, the newest movie manages to do a great job by giving us great characters fitting several archetypes, loading us up with familiar and fun imagery, and showing us what a "bad roll" could look like. Terrence and Blake close out 2022 with Avatar The Way of the Water.  After thirteen years James Cameron's sequel to Avatar is upon us!  We dig into what the like about the movie, what isn't working, the incredibly impressive tech and much more! 

Blake and Terrence discuss the new Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the sequel to the incredible Black Panther film.  They discuss that while there is much grief and loss surrounding this movie, the film handles grieving, moving forward and the many additions to the MCU very well.  The movie carries a lot of weight and manages to do a lot of things differently than other movies in the MCU and super hero genre.  Every character shines and the world is beautiful to watch.

Blake and Terrence dive into the newest offering from the DCEU, Black Adam!  While there is a lot to enjoy, some parts feel copy and pasted from other films, and the movie never fully explores the themes and ideas it posits that would make it stand out against other anti-hero and super hero movies.  But despite that is an overall fun and excited return to DC and introduces a ton of characters we are hoping to see more of down the road.

Blake and Terrence discuss the final installation in David Gordon Green's Halloween films, Halloween Ends.  While there are a lot of things that movie that don't work as well as we would like, there are many moments that are very cool.  We discuss the ideas that could've worked better had the themes and story lines been fleshed out more, and that the movie ultimately can't decide if its a traditional slasher, and elevated horror, or a horror drama.  

Blake and Terrence are joined by Matt Konopka (Killer Horrocast) to talk about Hulu's new movie Prey!  Why Predator was able to launch the franchise, what other sequels in the past got wrong about Predator and what Prey does right, along with the advantage that a streaming release may have had for the movie; though how much we all would have liked to see it in theaters.

Thor Love and Thunder has finally reached theaters to mixed reviews.  Blake and Terrence continue to explore why we are remaking, or creating sequels to everything and what new ideas are added, so join as they dive into the things that worked for them in the movie, and the new themes and ideas it brought to the MCU and the character of Thor.

The fifth and what feels like final installment of The Purge franchise is here!  Showing a world split down the middle with racial tensions driving some extremists to declare The Purge should last forever.  While it deals with themes and ideas that reflect what is happening in todays world, it does so very bluntly and doesn't offer any solutions beyond our downfall.  Which begs the question, what is left to explore in the world of The Purge?  Let us know what else you want to see in this franchise!

Episode Four of Loki is here, and with it another episode of Marvel Pair up, where Blake, Jamie and Terrence take each episode of Loki and pair it thematically with a time travel movie, to explore the themes and ideas of the genre as it pertains to the show.  This week we look at About Time and discuss romance with time travel and the importance of learning to love yourself.

Blake and Terrence discuss the absurd stunts and action in F9.  But despite unrealistic physics, they both still have a deep love and excitement for this family.  They talk why the movies have lasted the test of time and what else there is left to explore when it comes to family.

This week Blake and Terrence check out the sequel to the 2017 buddy cop movie The Hitman's Bodyguard: The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard.  Does the movie evolve it's series, challenge its characters or bring anything new to the buddy cop genre?  And if not, what could it have done differently?

In our mini-series Buddies For Life, Blake, Terrence and Jamie give their reactions and review of each episode of Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and pair it up with a buddy cop movie to examine the ongoing themes in this genre, how the genre has evolved and what makes it so unique.  This week we look at Rush Hour and discuss how some classic movies can just scratch the surface of interesting and challenging themes, while Falcon and the Winter Soldier now forces us to have challenging and interesting conversations week after week.  Let us know what you think of this week's episode!

This week's episode for Falcon and The Winter Soldier got dark quickly.  This week on Buddies For Life we give our reaction to this episode, discuss the themes of carrying on someone's legacy and holding up to those values.  And we discuss Die Hard With a Vengeance and Bad Boys and how 90s Buddy Cop films carried the genre and pushed forward similar themes and ideas we see in this weeks episode!

In our third episode of the Buddies For Life Mini-Series, Blake, Jamie and Terrence look at the themes in Lethal Weapon and how they parallel to what Falcon and the Winter Soldier is about.  How Lethal Weapon built the buddy cop genre, and what Falcon and the Winter Soldier clearly learned from it.  The evolving genre, the action, the relationships of the characters, and the importance of your story having a strong thesis statement.

This week Falcon and Winter Soldier premiered its second episode, so we take our second buddy cop movie pairing and look at 48 Hours, the movie that started Eddie Murphy's movie career, and many claim to be the first "buddy cop" comedy.  We look at how the movie and this episode both handle race thematically, balance action and comedy, and look at the relationships of the characters, we also speculate on where the series is going, and much much more!

Wandavision Episode Seven: Breaking the Fourth Wall brings us into the 2010's a decade where most of comedy was cutaways to to the talking heads, awkward zooms, tough story lines and a decline in the family sitcom as we turned to streaming.  Modern Family broke that trend and showed us a more inclusive, more, well modern family on the screen. We discuss the episode, the impact of Modern Family and how comedy from that era aged worse than other eras.

We're back to the regular sitcom shenanigans of Wanda and Vision!  Though they are getting more serious as Vision and others start to feel that something is off in their perfect world.  In the history of the real world, sitcoms and TV got more serious in the 1980s as cable TV brought more competition, violence, and an edge to family sitcoms that the vaudeville era never had.

Hello and welcome to the third installment of A History of Sitcoms Through Wandavision, where Blake, Terrence and Jamie discuss the various decades of television used in Wandavision, what audiences wanted in those decades, how those shows pushed the medium and forward, and how it applies to our heroes.  This week is all about the 70s, The Brady Bunch and how the last show of the classic family influences Wanda and Vision in their quest for a family, normalcy and a lot of other things seemingly out of their reach.
