This is a town full of historic and colorful buildings that started as a trading post. The mill town has today become an artist enclave that hosts two large annual arts and crafts festivals and a few ghosts. Join us as we explore the history and hauntings of Occoquan! The Heathman Hotel is one of the few remaining historic hotels in Portland, Oregon. It beckons to passerbys with its red and white neon sign on the front of the entrance awning. The brick edifice signals that this is an old building, a historic building. Like so many historic hotels, this one hosted the rich and famous and has stories of tragedies and hauntings. The Flagstaff of 1937 was quite different from the sleepy little railroad town it had once been. Emigrants from Boston had passed through this pine forest near the mountains in 1876 and marked their camp with a pine tree stripped of its bark and branches and crowned with an American flag in honor of the country's centennial. Their flag staff became a landmark and eventually the name of the town. By the 1930s, Flagstaff had become a thriving small town thanks to the local university, the Lowell Observatory and tourists coming to see the Grand Canyon. The wealthy side of town was on Leroux Street. And it was here on North Leroux Street that the Walkup family home was located.

Cape May in New Jersey is one of the oldest seaside resort towns in America and has one of the largest collections of 19th century buildings in the country. Three hundred and eighty acres of the town are part of a historic district. Many of these historic locations are now inns that are reputedly haunted. They all are unique with their own character and charm and at least one should be on your bucket list for a stay. We decided to take a long weekend trip to the Florida Keys for our honeymoon and one of the locations we visited was a former home of American author Ernest Hemingway in Key West. Hemingway loved Key West and left a mark on the town. He more than likely has left his spirit here as well. The true crime this episode features is a recent event dating back to just the 1980s. It is a crime that shook the small town of Summerville, Georgia. A gay couple lost their lives during the robbery of their home, Corpsewood Manor, which was located in an isolated area of the woods. The manor is just a ruin today due to a fire, but it attracts visitors of all kinds from teenagers looking for a party hangout to paranormal investigators. Stories of curses, Satanic worship and hauntings have been spawned by the Corpsewood Manor Murders.

Prospect Place in Trinway, Ohio was built by an abolitionist and was a stop on the Underground Railroad. This was a house that not only had to be built twice due to a fire, but it was ahead of its time in regards to amenities. A legend connected to this property claims that a bounty hunter came calling looking for runaway slaves and rather than finding slaves, he found a noose as workers on the farm hanged him. The Mason House Inn is the oldest steamboat hotel on the Des Moines River in Bentonsport, Iowa. It has a history connected to the Mormon Trail, the Civil War and the Underground Railroad.
