Submit ReviewHey Sox fans! Welcome back to Good Guys Talk Back. Nick and Pat talk all things Chicago White Sox after the South Siders were swept by the Tampa Bay Rays to fall to a pathetic (7-15) and 5 games back in the AL Central. Through the first 22 games, the Sox have failed to win a series and have failed to win win back-to-back games. Luis Robert went 1-for-14 in the series against Tampa, Eloy Jimenez hit a pair of home runs, the bullpen (minus a meltdown by Lopez in Game 1) was solid and a general lack of plate discipline continued to plague the Sox. Can the Sox get hot in Toronto against the (13-9) Blue Jays before returning home to face the Tampa Bay Rays?

Nick and Pat recap the week that was for our Chicago White Sox. The Sox are still searching for their first series win after losing 2 of 3 to the Minnesota Twins and then later on to the Baltimore Orioles. Sox defense and pitching have been problematic to say the least. Lots of walks being issued by pitching, especially out of the bullpen. More injuries to report as Yoan Moncada and Hanser Alberto head to the ten day injured list. Jake Burger continues to mash home runs and might force his way into the everyday lineup. The Sox (6-10) find themselves four games out in the AL Central with a rough stretch of April still on the horizon. Sox manager Pedro Grifol has said that he does not like the term "early" when referring to April or May games. The Sox need to start playing with the urgency because right now... it's the same old White Sox.

Nick and Pat chop up the week that was for our White Sox and look ahead to the big series against the first place Minnesota Twins. Through the first ten games of the season, the Sox have not won back-to-back games and they have not won a series. Tough outing by Lance Lynn and Giolito this past week. Michael Kopech had a horrible Home Opener but bounced back nicely against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Easter. Sox offense has been tops in several AL categories and individuals like Luis Robert, Jr. have been on fire as of late. The White Sox (4-6) just can't put everything together at the same time for an extended period of time yet. Hopefully this is the week that the pitching and hitting will sync up and the Sox can rise up to the challenge in Minnesota and against the Orioles at home. Thanks for the continued support, Go Sox. #WhiteSox #Chicagobaseball #ChangeTheGame

Series split with the defending champs, the Houston Astros kind of felt like a series win in a weird way. Dylan Cease was magnificent on Opening Day. Lynn, Giolito and Clevinger all held their own but failed to get through the 6th. Sox bullpen was shaky for most of the series, blowing a 3-0 lead in Game 2 of the series. Sox racked up a lot of hits but were terrible at converting with runners in scoring position. Yoan Moncada had an outstanding series, going 8-for-18 with a pair of home runs and doubles. Luis Robert had two jaw dropping catches in centerfield and flexed the power in the series finale. Lots of areas to clean up but coming home with a four game split feels pretty good. Sox send Michael Kopech to the hill for the Home Opener as the Sox take on the San Francisco Giants before heading to Pittsburgh.

The legend, Leury Garcia, did not make the Opening Day roster for the first time since he came to the Sox from the Rangers back in the summer of 2013. So who's in and who's out? Hanser Alberto, Gavin Sheets, Seby Zavala and Romy Gonzalez seem to be the guys off the bench. Gregory Santos might be the surprise arm in the bullpen after Nick Avila and Bryan Shaw were denied spots. The Sox have just two more Spring Training games before a day off, then Opening Day in Houston. There is not a lot of national attention for the White Sox to reclaim the AL Central title but Nick and Pat make their case for why the Sox will be better than projected. Predictions are made about season totals and individual performances. Also, Nick previews the new food at the ballpark as the 2023 season is just days away. Thank you for the continued support and Go Sox!

With Spring Training starting to wind down, Sox fans are hoping for continued health. White Sox starting pitchers continue to fine tune their comfort with the pitch clock as well as work some things out of their arsenal. Oscar Colas continues to mash the baseball as his first big league banner hangs along 35th street. Utility and reserve spots are a precious few. Seby Zavala and Gavin Sheets are locks but what about Billy Hamilton, Hanser Alberto, Leury Garcia, and Romy Gonzalez. Who's in and who's out? The Sox bullpen also has some question marks. Can Tanner Banks find a spot or what about flame thrower Gregory Santos? Opening Day is just around the corner and our White Sox look to recapture the AL Central title. Thank you for the continued support and Go Sox!

Nick and Pat discuss the week that was for our Chicago White Sox. Michael Kopech's first spring outing, Giolito's appreciation of the pitch clock and Oscar Colas adds a pair of home runs to his spring resume. Leury Garcia has had a rough spring defensively but he is not the only one. Is Garcia a lock to make this roster? Speaking of fringe players, Jake Burger continues to smash the baseball. He is tied for the league lead this spring with 4 home runs. What are his chances to break camp and head to Houston with the Sox in a few weeks? The Sox have managed to stay healthy and there is a desire to just fast forward the rest of spring so we can get to Opening Day. Pedro Grifol is amongst friends, which has its advantages but also has its hurdles. Also, Nick and Pat provide their perspectives on Last Comiskey: Part 2. Thank you for the continued support, Go Sox!
--- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/good-guys-talk-back/messageHey Sox fans! Nick and Pat are back, talking all things Chicago White Sox. Nick just returned from Glendale, AZ and reports on action from White Sox camp. Oscar Colas, Andrew Vaughn, Yasmani Grandal and Elvis Andrus have gotten off to a good start offensively. Grandal looks to have his legs under him and the bat is definitely producing some pop. Colas looks to be the clear front runner for the starting right field position. Pedro Grifol is running his first camp as big league manager and creating a culture is of utmost importance. Grifol seems to be running a player-directed and manager-facilitated camp. MLB has ended their investigation and Mike Clevinger will not be suspended. The Davis Martin of 2023 might very well be Davis Martin. Also, Jose Abreu opens up about his disappointment and what went wrong with the Sox in 2022. Opening Day is just 24 days away. Go Sox!

--- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/good-guys-talk-back/messageHey Sox fans! Welcome to Ep. 208. The White Sox found a second baseman and it's none other than Elvis Andrus. Elvis returns to the Southside on a reported one year, $3 million dollar deal. Now what happens to Lenyn Sosa and Romy Gonzalez? Spring Training is underway and the first game is Feb. 25th. Lots of video coming out of Camelback Ranch of pitchers and position players back in action. Lucas Giolito has slimmed down, Yoan Moncada feels like he's in great shape, Luis Robert, Jr. is getting pumped for the WBC and Pedro Grifol is trying to ramp up the intensity. Michael Kopech expects big things from his 2023 season. 30+ starts and 180-200 innings? We might even get a Michael Kopech on the mound for the Home Opener. Lots of excitement surrounding Liam Hendriks and his appearance at camp. Aside from Mike Clevinger and his baggage, there are very little distractions... so far. Go Sox.
