October Hurricanes Player of the Month, Martin Necas really dug in with what some are calling a coming out party for the 23-year old Czech.
Necas put up 5 goals, 8 assists and scored on nearly 20% of his shots.
Marty has always had the talent and been a long time friend of the show.
His October performance showed a snapshot of his potential with spirited forechecks and taking a much heavier load at the face-off dot.

The 13-year NHL veteran spent was well-traveled. Most notably 5 seasons with Hurricanes and being a key contributor to their 2009 playoff run.The Finnish forward also made playoff runs in Dallas & Pittsburgh. The power forward was at his full power in February. With 9 goals and 8 apples in 11 games the centerman was a staple in the nightly highlights. Lindholm had at least one point in every game but one and boasted an 8-game goal streak in February.

Tripp first met JT Mestdagh several years ago on a boat in their home state of Michigan, fitting because JT has his certification to captain any nautical vessel up to 100 Tons. Killer Killorn has 8 goals and 9 assists in 17 games for the defending champion Lightning. His toughness and smart play has been huge for the Bolts run back to the Stanley Cup Final. Alex also made a brilliant line change on the lone penalty in game 7, leading to the game winning shorthanded goal.

The NHL 1st Round Shovel of the Month goes to Canes forward Sebastian Aho.
Aho put up 5 goals in 6 games, including the series clinching, overtime winner. His flat blade tip of Jaccob Slavin’s shot sent the Canes on to the second round to face defending cup champs, Tampa.
Sebastian is all business as he has his eyes set on 12 more wins and a Canes Stanley Cup.

Brian Burke is a hockey lifer. First serving as the Whalers GM and selecting Chris Pronger, then off to Vancouver, where he worked magic to select the Sedin twins. In 2007, he put together a Stanley Cup winning Anaheim Ducks squad with a handful of hall of famers on the roster. In Toronto Burke was both president & general manager of the Maple Leafs. His most recent stop was as president of hockey operations in Calgary. If that’s not enough for you, he was also the GM of the 2010 Olympic Gold Medal winning Canadien squad. Now he works as an analyst with Sportsnet and on Hockey Night in Canada.
