In our first episode covering The Kingkiller Chronicle, Davos’ Fingers is introduced to the mostly mild-mannered and seemingly regular Kote. Then, of course, he becomes totally IRREGULAR and starts talking about demons and trying to hide his obviously prolific history from people. Oh, yeah, then he befriends a stranger on the road…a Chronicler...before executing a bunch of spider monsters…so enjoy!.

House of the Dragon season one has come to an end and so does our coverage of it in episode 136: The Black Queen. Rhaenys has delivered the message of Viserys' passing to Dragonstone, and team Rhaenyra has to contend with a baby on the way, a usurped throne, a questionable roster of allies, and their own very conflicted emotions about an impending war and the loss of loved ones. Stretched thin, they use all the resources at their disposal as best as they can, but at what cost?
House of the Dragon might be over for now, but the Davos’ Fingers Podcast is going right back into it! We will see you back here for a new episode of Meet the Khalasar in three weeks as we leave the show behind and let the books take center stage as they should. Meet the Khalasar episodes dive into a single chapter with Matt, Scad and a single member of the Khalasar while also letting us all get to know that Bloodrider better. So come check out the podcast in three weeks for a brand new episode.

In episode 135 of the Davos' Fingers podcast, we unwrap the gift that is episode 9 of House of the Dragon: the Green Council. Viserys has passed and Alicent and the rest of the small council move swiftly to install Prince Aegon as the new King. What to do with Rhaenyra and Daemon is the only thing they can’t agree on, so the Greens bicker and argue without a King yet in place to make the final decision. Aegon’s coronation is a lovely event full of Targaryen heraldry and title, but two Queens are also intent on having their own thoughts heard regarding the Succession.
This is the penultimate episode of Davos’ Fingers coverage of House of the Dragon as the season only has one more episode remaining. So catch up with us next Friday for that final romp as we uncover what happened in the finale and spend some time prognosticating about what Season 2 may bring. It is sure to be a blast! So come find us here or on the Davos’ Fingers Youtube channel for that episode.

In episode 134, the Fingers of Davos sneak into a family occasion at the Red Keep as Vaemond Valaryon has forced the question of Velaryon succession on the Throne, counting on a favorable decision from Alicent and Otto to rule in his favor. But Rhaenayra and Daemon have convinced Viserys to rule in their favor, and Viserys makes it a point to show up for his daughter. Viserys has plans of his own, though, too. A plan to unite his family in a last, desperate dinner to bring all their conflicts to a conclusion and unite House Targaryen

Episode 132 of the Davos’ Fingers Podcast covers the sixth episode of House of the Dragon: The Princess and the Queen. Let’s do the time warp again, because in this episode we skip ahead around 10 years to find Alicent and Rhaenyra with 3 children each, Daemon with a new wife and two twin girls of his own, and Viserys with a seemingly tentative grip on control of the realm and life itself. Rhaenyra, feeling her own hold on the throne slipping away, proposes a marriage to unite the two factions of House Targaryen, an offer coldly received.

The Fingers of Davos continue their coverage of House of the Dragon in Episode 131. With the question of succession (still) looming large, Viserys makes a wedding pact that he hopes will stabilize the kingdom and ensure Rhaenyra’s path to rule. Rhaenyra and her new betrothed, Laenor Velaryon make their own plans for happiness, while Alicent, Daemon, and Ser Criston Cole all adjust their behavior and loyalties in response to the union, and to the shifting balance of power. Lastly, the Strongs assert themselves as players in the game as well, showing support for Viserys, but also a penchant for sewing some chaos of their own.

Episode 130: King of the Narrow Sea features a family reunited as Daemon returns for his years long exile and war in the Stepstones and Rhaenyra gives up on the processional to find a consort. But Daemon’s return lights a spark in Rhaenyra at exactly the right (or wrong?) moment, interrupting her thoughts which are fixated on a life lived in the gilded cage of marriage into which she is being forced. Passion, duty, power dynamics, and manipulation abound in this episode filled with outstanding performances and deft direction.

In Episode 127, Matt and Scad take a leap into the HBO series The House of the Dragon, covering its first episode: The Heirs of the Dragon. With Jaehaerys’ rule coming to an end, and the succession unclear, the assembled Lords of Westeros choose Viserys I to rule the 7 Kingdoms. But it isn’t long before Viserys has his own succession problems as he struggles to produce a male heir. With a child on the way for Queen Aemma though, hope springs and King’s Landing holds a tourney to celebrate. But things do not go as planned, and Viserys is left with an unruly council, a brutal brother, and a dutiful but overlooked daughter to contend with as the succession looms again.

In the final installment of Meet the Khalasar, the Fingers of Davos are joined by the zen-like Zander as we dive into Jaime’s penultimate chapter in asoiaf, Jaime VII of A Feast for Crows. In it, we find a Jaime busy with wrapping up the final business odds and ends for the Wot5K in the Riverlands. We see an effective Jaime, a productive Jaime. But we also see a frustrated man dealing with the escape of a slippery Blackfish and grappling with what his role will be like when he does return to King’s Landing; his sister having created an entirely different mess that will need his attention, if she’s still alive that is.
Zander on the other hand creates no mess. It was a delight to get to know Zander a lot better. He has been with us since the beginning, but mostly keeping to the shadows, and it was nice to shine a light on this kind, generous, and thoughtful friend. We can’t wait for everyone to hear his asoiaf story and some of his personal tales.
Next up for the Fingers? Oh, just a little D. HotD, that is! That’s right, for the first time, Davos’ Fingers is going to be doing…duh duh duh…..SHOW Coverage. House of the Dragon just looks and sounds too good to pass up, and the Fandom is absolutely DROOLING over it, so we figured we really had to give the people what they want. More details to come, but look for a release in the week following the first Episode of House of the Dragon, which premiers on 8/21/22!
We love talking ASOIAF with its fans, so please come and play with us! You can find us on twitter @davosfingers, and also on Facebook. You can also shoot us an email at wearedavosfingers@gmail.com or support us through Patreon at patreon.com/davosfingers.
This installment of Davos' Fingers features one of our longest tenured friends, Anne, or sweetyft as you might know her. It also features a pretty ancient chapter as well, reaching way back to Dany IV of A Clash of Kings, sometimes just referred to as the House of the Undying chapter. Dany dives headfirst into a magical maze of mages, culminating in a face off with the Undying themselves. With questionable but intriguing visions along the way, what is real, what is just drug-induced, and how much does it matter when Dany can't make sense of any of it when she gets out?
Regardless of what Dany can make sense of, we can all make sense of Anne's quality takes. We talk Ice and Fire Con, D&D and many other things as we all get to know Anne a little better. Please go chat with her, she is a pulls-no-punches delight.
Up Next for the Fingers is one more meet the Khalasar episode followed by a bit of a change of direction, so LOOK OUT!

The magical energy of K2 joins forces with Matt and Scad for Episode 124 wherein we talk about Bran and the scooby doo gang's visit to the legendary Nightfort! Jojen told them to come to this specific castle on the Wall, but the way is sealed, and now they are stuck here with a billion things that go bump in the night...including a big one that seems to be climbing the well where they are sleeping...
Don't sleep on K2 though! As always, she brings her friendly demeanor and positive energy to this episode and getting to know this master cake artist was the true highlight of the Episode. Give it a listen, then go find K2 on twitter, because she is a riot!
We recently released our Films Get Fingered Episode on Patreon, so go check that out. We had a blast fingering Rogue One: A Star Wars Story with several Bloodriders. More content on the way there as well as another Meet the Khalasar Episode to follow in July!

In Episode 123, Bloodrider Julie adds her voice to Davos’ Fingers to dissect Arya’s time at the House of Black and White as The Blind Girl. It’s a sensual delight of a chapter as we learn to see Arya’s world through her ears, nose, and mouth. She goes about her daily chores, learns how to live (and fight) without her sight, and learns the secrets of Braavos as Beth the Blind Girl. But it's Arya’s progress as a skinchanger that makes this chapter really sing.
And Beth makes us sing as well. With her positive outlook and energy, her passion for all sorts of music and her deep love of the fandom, Juliebeth is a bright light on the episode, and getting to know this longtime Bloodrider better was a real treat.
Over on Patreon we will be having a live Hangout to discuss Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in June, with more Wheel of Time (TV show) coverage and special episodes coming along as well. So check us out there at patreon.com/davosfingers.

Stef joins the fingers for Episode 122 and it is a riot. Making our way to Arya for the first time in our Meet The Khalasar cycle is a treat with Stef along for the ride. In this episode Arya is stuck as cup-bearer to Roose Bolton and a LOT is weighing on her young mind. Should see stick it out here with an impending regime change, or strike out on her own against a sea of troubles. Neither it turns out, as she still has some friends left, friends who join her.
Arya is in a tight spot in this chapter, but Stef brings her humor and diverse experiences to the table to help us uncover the gems inside this chapter. And as usual, simply getting to know a new friend is the best part of the Meet The Khalasar process. Come meet StefLyoness if you haven't already!
We are in the thick of A Song of Madness 2022 and as such. we are just taking a couple weeks off of the normal episodes as it wades into the heavy portion. But we will be back shortly with more episodes for you!

The Fingers of Davos are joined by Litbringer Mandy for a burnin down the house Episode 121, literally. Cersei III of AFFC features a Cersei struggling to maintain her grip on power and on her sanity and on her sense of self, all culminating in setting a mighty blaze to the Tower of the Hand. A month or two removed from her eldest son's death at the Purple Wedding, Cersei is now confronted with marrying off her second son to the same woman, Margaery Tyrell. Still in mourning and seeing threats in every shadow, this truly turns into Cersei's no good, very bad day. But a resolved Cersei sets the Tower of the Hand on fire using the alchemist substance, wildfire, and burning away her fear and paranoia, filling her with a sense of resolve, and flushing out any rats that may still be hiding inside its many hidden pathways.
But it wasn't a no good, very bad day for Matt and Scad because they get to know Mandy a bit better. A positive force and the creative energy behind the Litbringers, Mandy gives us insight into herself and the Litbringers. It was a delight to share the episode with her as A Song of Madness nears its opening whistle.
We will be back in 3 weeks with yet another Meet the Khalasar episode, we are continuing to release special episodes on the I Am Mercury series by Grant Piercy and The Wheel of Time Amazon series to Patrons. In Episode 120 Matt and Scad are joined by Bloodrider Gene to talk Sans…er…Alayne 1 of A Feast for Crows. In this chapter, found smack dab in the middle of AFFC, we find Alayne also in the middle of a pretty drastic personal journey. She is doing her level best to please her new “dad”, keep young Robert mollified, and prepare the Eyrie for the Lords Declarant all while maintaining her grip on her sense of self. These Lords have been making life a bit difficult for Petyr, blocking supplies from reaching them on the mountain, and insisting that Robert and the Vale be returned to friends.
Gene doesn’t make life difficult for the Fingers though. Instead, he is a delight and learning more about him was the best part of our chat. Settle in as Gene provides some moving personal stories and gives us some info about how he found the fandom.
This is our first episode of 2022, but we will be back with more Meet the Khalasar next month. On Patreon we have kicked back into gear with Grant Piercy’s I Am Mercury series. So go join us there to unlock film reviews, special episodes and other gems!

In Episode 119, Bloodrider Jon joins Matt and Scad to talk about everyone’s favorite bludgeoning instrument of death, Victarion Greyjoy, in the second of his POV chapters of A Feast for Crows: The Reaver. It’s a chapter of three parts including a raging sea battle, roiling self-reflection and introspection, and a celebration feast. But no celebration feast is complete without an overt challenge to authority, at least not when the Ironborn do it, and Euron’s plan for the Ironborn’s immediate future is given a harsh rebuke by Rodrik The Reader.
As usual though, the best part of this episode is diving deeper into the folds of our guest (eww). Jon doesn’t disappoint as we talk hockey, cheese fries, and all things nerd. So sit back and enjoy Khalasar.
We will be taking a short break for the Holidays but will be back in mid-January with more Meet the Khalasar episodes and, for patrons, furthering our coverage of the I Am Mercury series by Grant Piercy. So check back here in a month for more fun conversations with the Fingers!

In Episode 118, Lo the Lynx joins the Fingers of Davos to follow Pate through the twisty and misty streets of Oldtown to meet his fate during the AFFC prologue. But first we learn about Oldtown, Pate's infatuation with Rosey, and about his “friends” as well, including one Sphinx: Alleras. Pate has been up to no good to obtain a single Golden Dragon so that he can make Rosey "his" (blech, I just threw up a little in my mouth), committing a crime that has his future looking pretty murky.
But our guest from the Khalasar has been up to LOTS of good as they bring the expert analysis we knew we could count on about Pate, yes, but lots of other things too as we got to know Lo quite a bit better. As usual, it was a joy!

In episode 117 we spend a majority of the time within Jaime's head as he stands vigil for his father's funeral. That is right, Tywin is dead and almost 200 pages later, we are still burying him. And he is stanky. But bloodrider Kyle is less than stanky, and he brings the analysis on this chapter like non other. From the brotherly relationship while Jaime is freeing Tyrion, to the ghostly father/son dynamics that show very clearly the power dynamic between Tywin and his children. This one goes deep on the feelings and emotions, so strap in.
As always, however, the best part of these episodes is when we get to know our guests a little better, so hold on to your hats and enjoy as we all learn a bit more about Dent and how he found the fandom!

In episode 116, Matt and Scad chat with Bloodrider Megan as we return to Sansa, whom we haven’t covered since the first episode of Meet the Khalasar. And it gets deep here, folks as we are covering Sansa III from ASOS, a chapter in which Sansa’s hopes and dreams are dashed to the ground (again), she is forced to marry a Lannister and suffers trauma at every turn. Megan dives into the fray with some expert analysis on this chapter as we plumb the depths of the mental warfare the Lannisters are waging. But as always, the best parts of these episodes is getting to know a bloodrider a bit better. Learning more about Megan was a delight, and we know you will all enjoy getting to know per as well.
We will be continuing the Meet the Khalasar series very soon, but the next episode won’t be released until early November as we have some conflicts over the coming weeks. We will see you then!

Bloodrider Kat joins Scad and Matt to discuss Daenerys IX of ADWD. Queens, Kings, dying palanquin bearers, pit fighting, spicy locusts, ornery pit fighting commentators, and... DROGON. Yes, the big black dragon makes a return in this episode after disappearing, and we are here for it. What does it mean for Dany, what does it mean for Meereen? This is a crucial chapter for Dany as she finally allows her broiling feelings to take control and becomes the dragon once again.
Also and more importantly, guess what, we get to know bloodrider Kat. A delightful conversation about her nerdy pursuits and family will be sure to have you giggling, so give it a listen!
We will be back again in 3 weeks with our next installment of our Meet the Khalasar series. So get back with us then!
For Patrons, we are focusing on the I Am Mercury series at the moment, so look again in a couple weeks for our coverage of Book IV: Control Z. This is an exciting thriller with many twists and turns. It has been a delight to cover, so come give it a listen on patreon.com/davosfingers.

Matt and Scad are fresh off of their summer break and ready to invade your ears once again with more Meet the Khalasar episodes. For episode 114, we are joined by bloodrider Linsea to discuss Jaime III of A Feast for Crows. In this episode we get to travel with Jaime through the Crownlands and Riverlands. But we have a place of high honor for the journey: right between his ears in his noggin. And its a good thing we are, because there is a lot of change and growth goin on in there as Jaime confronts his sister about the mission in general, treats with Lords and Ladies, and tries to pick up the pieces from his family’s general destruction of the countryside. Oh, and he learns to fight too!
We also spend some time getting to know doc Linsea as well! A bloodrider from the days of yore, Linsea weighs in on the Gymternet, her vast petlife, and her favorite things about ASOIAF. So come settle in and get to know one hell of a lady.

Can the Golden Company be trusted to honor their agreement? The answer to these questions and more are properly ignored inside. However we do have a lot of fun! Also, and most importantly, we get to know Lizzy a bit. Has Matt finally met his match with regard to quoting the Office? You will have to listen to find out.
The podcast is going on a break for June and July, but will be back with more fabulous content in August including a continuation of our Meet The Khalasar series and more coverage of Grant Piercy’s work, “I am Mercury” coming for Patrons.

Continuing on with the Meet the Khalasar series, Matt and Scad chat with Aaron for Episode 112, in which we talk some Cersei, some Fire and Blood history, and some Margaery speculation. It is Cersei VI of A Feast for Crows in which Cersei does some snooping to catch Margaery in a bad way and spars with the new High Septon to get Tommen blessed by the Faith. We also get to know Aaron a bit. Probing him about his love of the series, his job, his love of sport, and his knighthood. Also one final reveal about ASOM at the very end of the episode, so don't miss it!!!
You are probably getting used to the format by now. We will be back in 3 weeks with bloodrider Lizzy sharing their favorite chapter. We will get to know them, and dive deeply into a singular chapter, something we have really been enjoying. So make sure to tune in in 3 weeks. Marcus joins the Fingers for this episode covering one of his favorite chapters: A Ghost in Winterfell. Together, we dive into the mysteries presented in this chapter where bodies start turning up without explanation and conflicts arise without need for explanation. Mystery is afoot, but so is psychological trauma. So buckle in for a headier chapter of ASOIAF. Also, we get to know Marcus, a possibly lesser known soul in the fandom, but his soul is that of a poet. Listen in to be dazzled like we were!
We will be back in 3 weeks for our next Meet the Khalasar episode with Bloodrider Aaron. The host of the Star Wars Legends Lounge will join us with one of his favorite chapters, and we will get to know him a little bit better, and also delve deeply into his surprise selected chapter.

The Fingers of Davos are joined by Virginie in the island nation of Tonga. We discuss the ever-persistent Brienne as she risks her life, struggles with trust issues, and learns that she won't blink in the heat of battle. We also get the charming spinner of yarns Nimble Dick Crabb in this chapter as he guides Brienne and Pod through the melancholy pines of Cracklaw Point. More importantly we get to enjoy the company of Virginie, one of the more delightful voices in the fandom, as we probe her with questions about her life. Its fascinating! So come join us, if you can stand the eerie sounds of the whispers!!!
Meet the Khalasar continues in three weeks with Bloodrider Marcus! We will get to know him and perhaps a Ghost in Winterfell. If you want some more content, stay close, we have a Whatifisode coming to our Patreon very soon about the Freys Botching the Red Wedding, and another Best of DF episode right on its heels!

Someone Always Tells, and I am here to tell you that this episode featuring Bloodrider Bobbie is a delight. We delve deeply on The Princess in the Tower chapter of A Feast for Crows. Just how impatient is Arianne? Just how patient is Doran? And what is the actual underlying conflict in this chapter that is far more important than the insurrection attempted by Arianne in the deserts of Dorne. In this chapter, we learn a lot about what really drives Arianne as she approaches madness brought on by her solitude. We also get to know Bobbie a lot better, and such a joy it was! Listen to the Doctor dive in with some special insights about about what George gets right medically!
Meet the Khalasar will continue in three weeks with Bloodrider Virginie! So join us for more fun and to get better acquainted with more friends in the fandom. Justin joins Matt and Scad for Episode 108 where we meet the feisty Ser Cortnay Penrose and deal with some of Stannis’ inner demons, maybe even his shadow. Stannis seeks surrender from a force well-protected behind the massive walls of Storm’s End, but Ser Cortnay isn’t having it. However, Stannis has Melisandre, a priestess of R’hllor, on his side and is willing to resort to...other methods. We spend the other half of the episode learning about our friend Justin. A family focused lover of Batman and Star Wars, Justin fits right in!
Our Meet the Khalasar episodes have been a lot of fun, and we are going to roll forward with more of them for the time being as this winter has not yet brought us Winds. So, check back with us in three weeks for the next installment with Bloodrider Bobbie! In episode 107, bloodrider Katrina joins Matt and Scad to discuss Bran II from A Storm of Swords. In this chapter we get the legendary story of the Knight of the Laughing Tree, but so much more. We get history of the hills and locals, we get arguments about traveling by road, we get a meal of sausage and oatcakes, and we get skingchanging...attempts...ok, so it's MOSTLY the Knight of the Laughing Tree. But what a story! The real pleasure of this episode is getting better acquainted with Katrina. From her illustrious career counting coppers to her hilarious stories about her family, she is a treasure and we hope you enjoy the episode as much as we did.
We are enjoying the meet the Khalasar series and it continues on with Bloodrider Justin in episode 108! So check back in three weeks for that episode. In the meantime, we continue our Films Get Fingered series for our patrons, with coverage of the Kevin Smith religious comedy Dogma. So check us out on Patreon for more Fingers!

Davos was dead, to begin with. There is no doubt whatever about that. Or is there? Bloodrider Chace joins the Fingers of Davos as we delve deeply into the Wolf’s Den, where Davos, previously thought dead by many a reader, lives on and in relative comfort. Davos’ examines his own mortality, his relationship with his family, and we are right there with him. From there we are off to the castle to learn that the North Remembers, and what one Northerner is going to do about it. More importantly, we spend a bunch of time getting to know Chace a little better, and we know you guys will enjoy it as much as we did.
Meet the Khalasar continues, and we look forward to getting closer with our friends, and diving deep on individual chapters. But we are taking a little pause for the Holidays, with our next regular episode scheduled to drop on January 18th. In the meantime we will drop another goodie or two to our Patrons, so check us out there for more content at patreon.com/davosfingers

Brrr...it’s cold in here, there must be some daggers in the atmosphere. Bword, riddler extraordinaire and Queen Beyond the Wall, joins the Fingers for Episode 105: Only the Cold. In this episode we cover Jon’s final chapter of A Dance with Dragons in which he faces off against pink letters and dark daggers. Also Selyse has no impact, Jon delivers a rousing speech, and Wun Wun rages. We spend some quality time with a friend and get to know her a little better as well, and we hope you enjoy getting to know her better as well!
We will be continuing the Meet the Khalasar series in three weeks with Bloodrider Chace. And before that, you can check us out on Patreon where we will be releasing a new Whatifisode about what Westeros might look like if Beric had won the trial by battle under the Hollow Hill. Also coming in December, a new special episode: the first Best of Davos’ Fingers episode!
Lastly, please give us a shout if you have anything to say about ASOIAF or the podcast itself. We love hearing from the Khalasar, or even Sorefoot Kings with nothing nice to say. We can easily be found on Facebook, or via email at wearedavosfingers@gmail.com, on tumblr at davosfingers.com, and we hang out on twitter most of all, @davosfingers. If you want to support the cast with some moola, check us out on patreon at patreon.com/davosfingers!
Selection Covered: A Dance with Dragons Jon XIII for the most part, but we bounce around quite a bit. Spoilers beware!
We introduce a new format in this episode: Meet the Khalasar. The whole goal of this format is to learn more about some of our friends, while delving deeply into each Bloodrider’s favorite chapter. The first entry features Misa, our Queen of Gifs and Beauty, as we review her favorite chapter: Sansa VII from A Storm of Swords. We explore Sansa’s growth, her confidence, and her loneliness against the backdrop of unwanted advances from Petyr and truly unwarranted accusations from her troubled Aunt Lysa. It’s a beautiful and iconic chapter and Misa joined in like an old pro. We hope you enjoy!
If you enjoyed our Whatifisodes, check out our Patreon offering as we have a new Whatifisode coming out later this month: What if Beric had won the Trial By Battle under the Hollow Hill. That can be found at patreon.com/davosfingers. And make sure you come back to us later this month as we spend some time with Bloodrider Bword!
If you want to chat or ask us a question, we can be found at wearedavosfingers@gmail.com, on twitter @davosfingers, at davosfingers.com, or you can find us and like us on Facebook. We love hearing from you guys, so drop us a line. Lastly, if you want to support the cast, go check out our patreon site at patreon.com/davosfingers.
Selection Covered: A Storm of Swords, Sansa VII mostly, but we duck in and out of other events in the main series. So spoilers beware.
In Episode 103, we delve into a world in which Jaime does not toss Bran from a window, a lighter timeline...maybe. In this timeline Jaime intimidates Bran into silence. Bran goes south, Jaime is not a child murderer, and the 3-eyed crow has to make some choices. This change obviously has huge impacts on Bran and Jaime as people, their arcs completely change. But surprisingly, the Fingers think lots of things might actually stay the same.
We hope you enjoy this final regular release of Whatifisodes series. This series will be continuing as a rotating part of our Patreon offering. So if you really like the format, check us out there! Next episode we will be bringing on Bloodrider Misa to talk about her favorite chapter: Sansa VII from A Storm of Swords. We will learn about Misa and what brought her to ASOIAF while we talk through that one chapter in depth. We are really excited for it, so be sure to check that out in three weeks! But for now enjoy this last Whatifisode.
Lastly, send us some raven mail! We can be found at wearedavosfingers@gmail.com, on twitter @davosfingers, at davosfingers.com, or you can find us and like us on Facebook. Any little thought you have about the series or the podcast, we are here for it!! Oh, also we have that whole Patreon thing goin on at patreon.com/davosfingers, with some new exciting content coming at you monthly!
Selection covered: While we focus pretty heavily on Bran and Jaime themselves, this episode reaches out and touches lots of areas of the story, so it covers all books.
The Fingers of Davos embark on episode 102 where we answer the question: What if Dany had ignored Jorah, and got the Golden Company instead? It turns out, Bloodriders, that this is a complicated question. How long does it take her to get to Pentos? How long until the Golden Company can arrive? Can Pentos even CONTACT a sellsword company? Where will Dany land and when? What is going on in Westeros at that time? Dany has been so isolated from the events of Westeros that they have continued on largely without influence from her, and we assume they do still. So sit back and enjoy this very time-dependent question!!!
We have one more of these Whatifisodes left and then it is on to a new format wherein we bring in friends of the podcast to talk about their favorite chapters. But for now, sit back and relax as we talk some Daenerys!
Please reach out to us. We love hearing from fans of George’s work. We can be found for complaints, suggestions and praise at wearedavosfingers@gmail.com, on twitter @davosfingers, at davosfingers.com, or you can find us and like us on Facebook. Oh, also we have that whole Patreon thing goin on at patreon.com/davosfingers.
Selection covered: Be advised, this episode spans all works of George from dusk to dawn, from beginning to end, it can cover anything and everything, so spoilers beware.
Episode 101 brings us to Ned and his head. If it doesn’t roll, what happens? We have all been conditioned, now, to a world without Ned, but how much would really change if he were granted his pardon? Well, the Fingers are here to explore. What might happen if Ned were sent to the Wall, or what if he were exchanged for Jaime, recently captured in the Whispering Wood (Also Scad’s porn name)?
We are going to be doin a couple more What-If episodes before moving on to yet another format change to be revealed soon. But for now, sit back and relax as we wander through another valley of possibility.
Selection Covered: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, there is no selection covered. I mean Matt and I spent a good amount of time reviewing A Game of Thrones in general to try to remember what happened when, but this episode spirals out from there quickly going throughout the story, so spoilers beware for everything.
In episode 100 (guys, we made it to 100!) we continue our series of “What if” content. The fingers of Davos tackle the question: What if Oberyn Martell had defeated Gregor Clegane during Tyrion’s trial by battle? How would court life look with a healthy Oberyn gumming up the works? Tyrion is free, but is he though? Does Tywin still die? The “grass” in Dorne is still hiding its “viper” in this timeline, what does that mean for the Dornish plot that we see in the later books?
We will be continuing on with another fun What-if episode in 3 weeks. So come ready to relax as we take a walk through a Westeros that has a little bit of a different feel!
We love George’s work. You love George’s work. Let’s build on that! Reach out and talk with us. You can find and like us on Facebook, or check out our tumblr at davosfingers.com. We love to banter on twitter @davosfingers or through email at wearedavosfingers@gmail.com. Lastly, if you feel like supporting the cast, check out our Patreon through patreon.com/davosfingers.
Selection Covered: Everything. Though it mostly focuses on The Lannisters and Dorne, there are other implications in there as well! Nothing is off limits though, so if you don’t want to be spoiled, stay away. Just come with your general knowledge of ASOIAF and a willingness for fun.
The Davos’ Fingers podcast is trying something a little new starting with Episode 99. The next several episodes will focus on “What if” questions. Matt and Scad will then spend the episode untangling how George’s world would have been different if crucial moments had gone just a little bit differently. So, get your headphones on and listen in as we ponder what would have happened if Rhaegar had defeated Robert Baratheon on the trident. Would dragons have entered the world? What would the Stark children’s lives look like? Does Rhaegar make sure the three heads of the dragon are fulfilled with his two sons? And maybe most importantly….who does Cersei marry? Its a zany episode and we hope you enjoy!
Make sure you check back in 3 weeks for our next What If episode. It will be a doozy!
Send us some Raven mail! We love to hear the thoughts from the fandom, on everything from what type of underwear Oberyn might wear to weather Daario is worthy companion for...well anyone. So find and like us on Facebook, or check out our tumblr at davosfingers.com. We can also be found on twitter @davosfingers or through email at wearedavosfingers@gmail.com. Lastly, if you feel like supporting the cast, check out our Patreon through patreon.com/davosfingers.
Selection Covered: Everything. We run free range all across the canon in this episode. But there isn’t anything you could really read to prepare. Just come with your general knowledge of ASOIAF and a willingness for fun.
In episode 98 the Fingers of Davos explore the most impressive of the free cities: Pentos, Braavos and Volantis. These are perhaps the most different cities from each other as you can get. Braavos, the poster-child of anti-slavery starkly cast against Volantis powered by slaves at a ratio of 5-to-1, with Pentos in between, pretending not to be pro-slavery but embracing everything it entails. One that denies its Valyrian roots, one that holds itself as the Valyrian standard, and one that embraces its roots, but also fine with mixing with other cultures. Such a fun set of differences to cover. We also spend some time in Valyria itself, talking about its current state, and whether it is as dangerous as it seems.
In three weeks we are moving to a bit of a format change, so get psyched for Davos’ Fingers madness. Nothing to read on your end, nothing to prep. We are getting back to ASOIAF proper, with a series of episodes called “What If”. Specifically in this case: What if Rhaegar had defeated Robert on the Trident? So get ready for some zany analysis about what would have gone differently had Robert not caved in Rhaegar’s chest.
We love to hear from fans that worship at the altar of George. So find and like us on Facebook, or check out our tumblr at davosfingers.com. We can also be found on twitter @davosfingers or through email at wearedavosfingers@gmail.com. Lastly, if you feel like supporting the cast, check out our Patreon through patreon.com/davosfingers.
Selection Covered: most of the content from this episode comes from The World of Ice and Fire. We are covering everything from Pentos on page 266 through the section on Braavos, ending on page 276. But there is some additonal coverage on Valyria that comes from TWOIAF and other general knowledge from the series at large. Spoilers beware.
In this episode, the Fingers start exploring the Free Cities. We wander the mazes of Lorath, try to avoid the lumber-rich mysterious forest of Qohor, and ascend the Sinner’s Steps in Norvos. But this episode isn’t complete without a tour of the Quarrelsome Daughters. Myr, Lys, and Tyrosh are near mirror images of each other, but can’t get along, we talk about that too.
Catch us in three weeks as we finish off our coverage of the Free Cities, including a quick look at the queen jewel herself, Valyria. After that, we are gonna mix it up a bit with a return to ASoIaF, but not, perhaps, in the way you are used to. Stay tuned.
Please, please, please, drop us an email or a tweet or a facebook comment. We love to hear from people that love A Song of Ice and Fire. We can be found all over the net of inter @davosfingers on twitter, wearedavosfingers@gmail.com, on our tumblr at davosfingers.com, or on Facebook just search for Davos’ Fingers. Finally, if you want to check out our Patreon, you can do so at patreon.com/davosfingers.
Selection Covered: The World of Ice and Fire pages 252 through 265. But as has been the case for some time, we will wonder all over the canon in this episode, so watch out!
We traverse the southern portions of the map in Episode 96. From The Summer Isles to Sothoryos and everything in between with deadly butterflies, wyverns, and pirate towns galore. We also head north to mainland Essos, to look at the Dothraki Sea and its current and prior residents. Lastly. Ahem. Dragonbone.
Our dutiful coverage of The World of Ice and Fire continues as we plunge into our second episode on that material. And we are gonna keep going. We are tackling the Free Cities for the next couple episodes, starting with Lorath. So read up!
Want to chat with us? Or share a theory? Or disagree vehemently with a take? Please do. Reach out! We can be found @davosfingers on Twitter, on Facebook, at wearedavosfingers@gmail.com, on our website at www.davosfingers.com. If you want to support the Fingers on Patreon check out patreon.com/davosfingers!
Selection Covered: Everything covered in Episode 96 comes straight from The World of Ice and Fire, pages 277 to 293. Everything is on the table though as we reference everything under the sun in this episode as well.
The Fingers of Davos gain a third tonight as Chloe of Girls Gone Canon joins the cast to talk The World of Ice and Fire. Our first episode covering this tome, and it is a doozy. From the Shivering Seas frozen in legend to the mystical walkers of the Ifeqevron, the Fingers (and Chloe) dive into some of the lesser known parts of Essos. Then they cross the Bone Mountains and explore the empire of Yi-Ti and east to Asshai by the Shadow. Not much is known of these strange lands by the Maesters of the Citadel, but speculation from the Fingers is not in short supply.
We have started our coverage of The World of Ice and Fire. As is our wont, we are doing it a little differently. We were very excited to jump ALL the way East, so we started at the end and will work our way back for a bit. We will be working our way back for the next episode including coverage of the Dothraki! So check back in 3 weeks!
If you would like to reach out and touch us, please do! We are always eager to hear from George’s fans. We can be found all over the place. @davosfingers on Twitter is our most frequent haunt. But we can be found on Facebook, at wearedavosfingers@gmail.com, on our website at www.davosfingers.com. If you want to suppor the Fingers on Patreon check out patreon.com/davosfingers!
Selection Covered: Everything in this episode (outside of speculation) can be found within The World of Ice and Fire from The Shivering Sea (page 294) through the end of the Asshai-By-The-Shadow section (page 309) and also the end of the book.
In Episode 94 we get into some good old-fashioned family values...well, Targaryen Family Values. They are a little different. Highlights Include: drunken midnight rides through the city, kissing clubs, uncles that are younger than their nephews, ostracization, forced marriage. Also in this episode is more deaths, especially in the birthing bed, but more births also...uh...from the birthing bed. And as it does for us all, death comes for Alysanne and Jaehaerys. We also answer some questions from Bloodriders and play a fun Targaryen Name Game. Enjoy!
Episode 94 also brings our coverage of Fire and Blood to an end. We will be moving on to cover hand-picked sections of The World of Ice and Fire, starting with the section titled The Bones and Beyond. So check back here in 3 weeks for the start of another fun adventure!
Send us some mail! We love to hear from George’s fans about all things ASOIAF and beyond. You can find us at wearedavosfingers@gmail.com, on twitter @davosfingers, you can find us and like us on Facebook, or check out davosfingers.com for our Tumblr site. Lastly, if you want to support us by becoming a Patron, check out patreon.com/davosfingers.
Selection Covered: Everything in this episode can be found in Fire and Blood. Specifically within the sections “The Long Reign” (pg 302) through “Heirs of the Dragon” (pg. 351).
The boys forge ahead through Fire and Blood in Episode 093: Good Queen Alysanne. In this episode Jaehaerys and Alysanne face tragedy as the Shivers bear down on Westeros. They also make a progress up north where the winter’s cold and Alaric’s hospitality is the same. Also, Alysanne flexes on her husband to end a sacred right to the Lords of Westeros, while Jaehaerys uses some windfalls of capital to improve infrastructure for his Kingdom.
In this episode we wanted to mention that we had a few audio issues in our recording. In truth Matt was a hero in salvaging some spots. We regret this departure from our normal level of quality and thank the Khalasar for their understanding.
This is our second to last episode of Fire and Blood as our bizarre journey through that tome winds to an end. After we polish that off, we will be jumping straight into some more ASOIAF, hand-picking sections from The World of Ice and Fire. As is our custom, we aren’t going to make it easy, actually starting with the section called “The Bones and Beyond”, which covers lands to the East, like Asshai. We will be hand selecting other selections as we go.
If you want to send us some ravenmail, we can be found in lots of places on the scary web. wearedavosfingers@gmail.com, on twitter @davosfingers, you can find us and like us on Facebook, or check out davosfingers.com for our Tumblr site. Lastly, if you want to support us by becoming a Patron, check out patreon.com/davosfingers.
Selection Covered: The selection we will cover in this episode can be found in FIRE AND BLOOD: “Jaehaerys and Alysanne - Their Triumphs and Tragedies” (pg 253) through “The Long Reign” (pg 302).
The Stranger has come in the year of 54 AC and the Fingers explore one of the biggest mysteries of Fire and Blood in Episode 092: the death of Aerea. We also lose another Queen, a High Septon, nearly a whole Queen’s court including her consort, oh and a Westhill...a what? Also, laws are written, progresses taken, High Septons appointed, and peace largely maintained during the years of Jaehaerys' early rule.
We only have 3 more episodes before capping off our coverage of Fire and Blood. What SHALL we do next, who knows! But if you want to drop us a line with a suggestion we can be found all over the place: wearedavosfingers@gmail.com, @davosfingers on twitter, you can find and follow us on Facebook, or our Tumblr site davosfingers.com. You can also check us out on Patreon at patreon.com/davosfingers.
Selection Covered: The selection we will cover in this episode can be found in FIRE AND BLOOD. This content for this episode is largely found within the chapters “Birth, Death, and Betrayal under King Jaehaerys I” (pg. 206) through “Jaehaerys and Alysanne - Their Triumphs and Tragedies” (pg. 253)
In Doctrine of Exceptionalism, Matt and Scad finally see Jaehaerys mount the throne (among other things) as he reaches the age of majority, and changes, they are a’comin. Also in this episode, Rogar commits treason (or does he), Rhaena causes trouble (on both coasts), we get some new arrivals to the Targaryen family tree, and the crown continues its constant negotiation with the Faith regarding incestuous marriage.
Winter is upon us so send us your snow white raven with some mail attached! We can be reached at wearedavosfingers@gmail.com through Twitter @davosfingers, and you can find us and like us on Facebook. You can also check out our improved Tumblr site at davosfingers.com or learn more about our Patreon program at patreon.com/davosfingers.
In this episode we’re continuing our coverage of the rule of Jaehaerys and Alysanne Targaryen. The selection we will cover in this episode can be found in FIRE AND BLOOD: “A Surfeit of Rulers” (pg. 161) through “Birth, Death, and Betrayal under King Jaehaerys I” (pg. 206). All of these Chapter Headings and Page Number designations, of course, coming from the beautiful Fire and Blood hardcover.
In episode 90, the Fingers finally reach into the rule of Jaehaerys and Alysanne Targaryen, covering their early years, from arrival at KL with the help of Rogar Baratheon through their idyllic days on Dragonstone and everything in between. Listen in as Jaehaerys picks reconciliation over blood, Alyssa and Rogar get second chance at happiness, five Kingsguard earn their cloaks, and Alysanne picks a husband.
You may have noticed that we skipped over covering the Sons of the Dragon chapter. That's because we covered way back in Episode 081. So go check that out first if you want a refresher on the rules of Aenys and Maegor Targaryen.
Shoot us some davosmail at wearedavosfingers@gmail.com, find us on twitter @davosfingers, like Davos Fingers on facebook, or check out our newly refreshed website davosfingers.com. We love to hear from George's fans! If you are so inclined, check out our Patreon program at patreon.com/davosfingers.
In this episode we’re jumping ahead to the beginning of the reign of Jaehaerys, the Conciliator. The content covered in this episode can be found in FIRE AND BLOOD: “Prince Into King”, “The Year of the Three Brides”, and part of “A Surfeit of Rulers”. That’s pages 107 through page 161 of the hardcover for those playing along.
Episode 89 of Davos' Fingers takes us back to the Towering Targaryen Threesome...er...siblings. We follow Aegon, Visenya, and Rhaenys from puzzling decision to rule Westeros through the Dragon’s wars and into the peace and prosperity of one unified kingdom of Westeros.
We already covered the next chapter of Fire and Blood, way back in Episode 081, so you MIGHT need to go back and listen to a refresher before our next episode hits. For the next several episodes we will cover the rise of Jaehaerys and his rule with Alysanne! So get excite!
As always, please reach out if you have questions or comments about the podcast. We won’t ignore you the way Cersei ignored Ned’s warnings to leave King’s Landing. You can find us @davosfingers on twitter, through email at wearedavosfingers@gmail.com, on facebook, or on our tumblr davosfingers.com. You can also support us on our Patreon site at patreon.com/davosfingers.
Selection Covered: The first three chapters of Fire and Blood: Aegon’s Conquest, Reign of the Dragon -- The Wars of King Aegon I, and Three Heads Had the Dragon -- Governance Under King Aegon I). That’s pages 3 to 50 for those with the Hardcover.
We are fresh off our break and we have a doozy for you as Davos’ Fingers brings you the end of Fire and Blood! In this episode Westeros hobbles along under an ineffective, disinterested, and youthful King, a Lysene family that is hungry for power (or are they), a coup attempt engineered by some bitter also-rans, and the rule of a Merman until the King comes of age.
While this may be the end of Fire and Blood the book, it is NOT the end of Fire and Blood the coverage by this podcast. Because we dodged, ducked, dipped, dived, and...dodged our way through the first time, we have to go pick up the pieces. So stay with us as we pick up in the next episode with the OPENING chapters of Fire and Blood!
We love hearing from George’s fans about anything and everything ASOIAF, so drop us a line in our many many lurking places. On twitter @davosfingers, email at wearedavosfingers@gmail.com, on our tumblr site www.davosfingers.com, find us on Facebook, or through our Patreon site at patreon.com/davosfingers
Selection Covered: “The Lysene Spring and the End of Regency”, the final chapter in Fire and Blood, spanning pages 667 through 706.
In Episode 87 of the Davos’ Fingers Podcast, Matt and Scad discuss the rule of the new Hand Unwin Peake, the relative lack of involvement of poor Aegon III’s regents, the swift rise of Alyn Velaryon and his journeys, and the discovery of a long lost (er...short lost?) Targaryen relative. The realm limps along, trying to find its footing still in the wake of the Dance of Dragons.
We will be taking a little bit of a hiatus from our normal episodes for a summer break. But expect us back in September for a return to Fire and Blood!
The hiatus doesn’t mean we won’t be around though, so be sure to send us Ravenmail at wearedavosfingers@gmail.com, or interact with us on twitter @davosfingers or find us and like us on facebook. We also have our davosfingers.com kicking around and our patreon site, at patreon.com/davosfingers.
Selection Covered: Spanning the years of 133 and 134 AC, our source material will be the FIRE AND BLOOD chapters “Under the Regents- War and Peace and Cattle Shows”and “Under the Regents - The Voyage of Alyn Oakenfist”.
In Episode 086, Matt and Scad cover the early days of Aegon III’s rule under regency. But Cregan Stark has marched a LOOOONG way, and he isn’t about to let this go smoothly, effectively seizing control of the city to investigate the murder of Aegon II and to make sure the war is ended for good and all. Once the wolf is appeased, Tyland Lannister settles in as Hand, overpowers the regency, and starts to rebuild the kingdom, dealing with money issues, succession issues, and a new King that seemingly wants nothing to do with it.

Selection covered: This episode covers Fire and Blood Chapters “The Aftermath - The Hour of the Wolf and “Under the Regents - The Hooded Hand”.
In Episode 85, Matt and Scad watch the dragons dance and we watch the dragons die. King's Landing rises up in a riot, driving Rhaenyra out, her support network in shambles as she searches for some way to regain control of Westeros. Meanwhile the Greens have their own problems with a major military setback at Tumbleton. The general disarray and discord that follows keeps the army from even reaching King’s Landing. Aegon retakes King’s Landing only to bungle it away himself. Dragons figurative and literal die in large numbers in this episode, so hang on tight!
The Dance may have ended, but the podcast remains. So reach out and talk to us about all things ASOIAF. Selection covered: This episode covers the ending of The Princess and the Queen, but oh so much more as well as we mine the great details provided in pages 506-568 of Fire and Blood. This episode will put an end to The Dance of Dragons as the two sides are unified in one house. Check us out next episode though as we move into some of the aftermath of the Dance.
In Episode 84, we discuss the middle section of the Dance of Dragons wherein Rhaenyra goes on the offensive, Aemond lays waste to some empty fields and castles, and butchery and betrayal run rampant. The various factions rise up against themselves, with leadership falling apart on the Green's side, and King’s Landing in near open rebellion against sitting Queen Rhaenyra.

Selection covered: While we were originally trying to cover TPATQ, Fire and Blood just provided so much more depth for this critical event in the history of Westeros. So, we are focusing on pages 449 through 506 of Fire and Blood. This will serve as basically the middle third of the entire conflict. Beware, though, all material in the ASOIAF universe is covered, so there may be spoilers for future “Dance” events and other ASOIAF works! So grab your favorite comfy blanket or turn up that car stereo and let us regale you on the beauty and chaos that is George’s world!
The Cast of the missing Fingers of Davos tackles the beginning stages of The Dance of Dragons in Episode 083: The Dance - First Blood. The Greens and the Blacks wage an epic war of backroom negotiations and letter writing, backstabbing, plotting, dragon fights, and legitimate military encounters to try and keep their place in the Targaryen ruling dynasty. From the forming of each council and the opening blood spilt to the fall of numerous dragons and the entrance of many interested parties, this episode covers a LOT of ground. Enjoy Khalasar!

So, we are focusing on pages 391 to 449 of Fire and Blood, effectively the first third of this epic conflict. So strap in and enjoy! All material in the ASOIAF universe is covered though, so there may be spoilers for future dance events and other ASOIAF works!
Davos’ Fingers wades into the middle of the three Targaryen-based novellas. In it we outline the events post Jaehaerys and Alysanne and pre-Dance of Dragons; a time of building tensions and an increasing number of dragons, both literal and figurative. Two Queens struggle against each other to assert their wills in the dying years of an ineffective King’s reign. Join us!

Selection Covered: You can find MOST of everything covered in this episode as The Rogue Prince in the Rogues Anthology published by Bantam. This material can ALSO be found in the more recently published Targaryen history book Fire and Blood on pages 351-390. We do also cover some of the timeframe before these events to set up the action, dealing with the decline of Jaehaerys and Alysanne, that material can also be found in Fire and Blood. Also to note, Davos After Dark is not a thing in this episode, all material is fair game. Ye have been warned.
The brave Fingers of Davos kick off their coverage of GRRM’s novellas with The Sons of the Dragon! Inside we follow the progeny of Aegon the Conqueror, discussing the loves and labors of the lives of Aenys and Maegor Targaryen. Want to know what happened on the Iron Throne between the rules of Aegon the Conqueror and Jaehaerys I? You’ve come to the right place!
We also take several questions from our Bloodriders including topics ranging from Star Wars television spinoffs to our favorite characters and takeaways from Fire and Blood! This episode also features two brand new jingles from music master Matt (alliteration for the win), so sit back and enjoy!

Selection Covered: The entirety of The Sons of the Dragon is covered in this episode. This can also be found in Fire and Blood encapsulated within the chapter by the same name. This episode also contains spoilers. EVERYTHING is fair game in the canon, so be careful if you are trying to listen out of order or something!
In Episode 80 of the Davos’ Fingers podcast, we wrap up The Mystery Knight novella and the last of the A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms compilation as Dunk recovers from a bad outing at the tourney. He is forced to give up his sword, armor and horse, only to find he is also missing his squire. Dunk tries to uncover the mystery of the missing Egg only to find and unravel a deeper plot to place a Blackfyre on the Iron Throne of Westeros.
Bloodraven is the topic of Who’s That Dragon this week, as we take a deeper look at Brynden Rivers, including his time up at the wall, and what may be in store for him in the future of ASOIAF. We follow this up with what might be the final Davos After Dark for while, so buckle in and enjoy!
Also joining us for Davos After Dark is special guest Elena from the Small Council of Ice and Fire Con. We talk a little bit about the con, what makes it special and why you (yes YOU) should consider coming to Ice and Fire Con this year. More information to be found at iceandfirecon.com or you can reach out directly to Elena at @TheBearHeir on twitter!
Want to give us your own thoughts on Dunk, Egg, Ser Glendon, Bloodraven and the gang? We would love to hear it. Drop us a line and let us know what you think! The Fingers dive into the first half of The Mystery Knight in Episode 079. Dunk and Egg meet the dashing Fiddler, the intensely focused Glendon Ball, and the enigmatic Maynard Plumm as they convene as uninvited guests at a Wedding Tourney. Add a Dragon’s egg, Dragon dreams, a secret conspiracy plot, and Ser Duncan grabbing a lance once again and you have a recipe for a rollicking good time.
We take on Bittersteel himself, Aegor Rivers, in this episode’s Who’s that Dragon installment. And as always, we finish up with a rousing edition of Davos After Dark.
Send us some love. We love interacting with the fandom on twitter @davosfingers, on Facebook where you can find us and like us, through email at wearedavosfingers@gmail.com, through our site davosfingers.com, or on our Patreon at www.patreon.com/davosfingers. Selection Covered: Our reading section this week takes us from the beginning of The Mystery Knight on page 235 of The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms combined novella through page 298, right after Dunk’s first tilt in the Wedding Tourney.
The Davos’ Fingers podcast finishes off the Sworn Sword in Episode 78 this week as Dunk parlays with Rohanne Webber, who confounds him in many ways and reveals an ugly truth about the man he represents. Upon confronting Ser Eustace about his questionable loyalties, Dunk and Egg are determined to leave his service on the morrow. But Dunk, ever loyal, just can’t betray this man in his need, and goes to Coldmoat with him to deal with the Red Widow. Another parlay and another failure means a trial by battle as Dunk fights for his lord’s stream, his pride, his smallfolk, and his future, not to mention Dunk’s own life.
“Who’s that Dragon” is replaced with “Who’s that Lion” this week as we focus on the Red Widow herself, Rohanne Webber. Then of course we finish up strong with Davos After Dark.
If you'd like to reach out to us and let us know how we're doing, or give us some feedback, or just want to vent about how much you hate Ser Eustace, drop us some raven mail. wearedavosfingers@gmail.com, @davosfingers on twitter, at davosfingers.com or you can find our page on Facebook.

Matt and Scad tour Standfast, Wat’s Wood, and Coldmoat as Dunk is taken into service By Ser Eustace Osgrey a landed knight in the Northmarch of the Reach. But the summer heat has seemed to dry up the Chequy Water, or has it. Dunk solves a mystery, trains a militia, and has a bad dream all before going to confront the dreaded Red Widow.
Who’s That Dragon focuses on Daemon Blackfyre this episode and boy is there a lot to unpack with him. Then it’s time for everyone’s favorite spoiler section, Davos After Dark.

Dunk intervenes and gets himself in a whole set of trouble culminating in one of the most enjoyable excerpts in the canon, and the demise of a very promising young leader.
Who’s That Dragon focuses on Baelor Breakspear before we embark on another session of Davos After Dark where we will delve into some of the spoilery bits.

Davos After Dark is still a thing, though you will hear us prattle on and on about what actually is a spoiler in this context. In any event, we have done our best to avoid giving away any in-story spoilers in the main section of the cast, saving those for this special section at the end. Also, pay attention for “Who’s That Dragon?”, a new little feature that lets us dive into a single Targaryen per episode.
Nothing has changed on at least one front: we love hearing form the khalasar! The Davos’ Fingers podcast has come to the conclusion of our Feast/Dance re-read in Episode 074: The Blood Before the Pain. Tears of joy and tears of sorrow. But we soldier on! In this episode Sam and Gilly reach Oldtown amidst Ironborn reaving. Kevan deals with a docile Cersei, quarrels on the small council, and a quarrel in his chest. There is unrest in Mereen as Barristan tries to calm the murder in the streets and maintain the peace outside the gates. Lastly, Daenerys stumbles away from her Dragon and vaguely in the direction of Mereen, but finds an old enemy instead.
We’d like to thank Game of Owns for their reading order, which we enjoyed thoroughly. Though we have finished it, you can always find it on afeastwithdragons.com.
We still maintained our spoiler free path in the main portion of the cast for those worried about Winds of Winter spoilers, but stick around for what may be the final Davos After Dark if you want deeper speculation and spoilers.

We’ll be back in just under a month’s time with fresh analysis of everyone’s favorite series as we cover Feast/Dance together. Can’t wait!
The Red Wedding ripped our hearts out, played tennis with them, ground them up into mush, then fed them to rabid animals. And that was just after the first time we read it. After the pain dulls to a low throb and we get our bearings back, we start to wonder how all the moving pieces of the Red Wedding conspiracy fit together; who planned what? Who talked to whom first? Why did so-and-so agree to it? From Tywin Lannister to Roose Bolton to Sybelle Spicer to Walder Effin' Frey himself, the web of conspiracy is twisted and complicated. It was these questions and more that Matt set out to answer a few months back in the first ever written Davos' Fingers essay, "It Is Wolves I Mean To Hunt: The Motivations of the Red Wedding Conspirators". Now, due to popular demand, we present this audio narration of Matt's essay. Oh, and did we mention that this recording includes the voice talents of all three Fingers? You won't want to miss Scad as Roose Bolton or Brooke as Fat Walda!
In the final chapters of A Storm of Swords: a crow and a raven influence election results, Jon loses his cool, Sansa builds a castle and sees a happy home collapse, and we climb into the scary mind of a Frey. We feel dirty about it too.
