Stephen King, Andrew McGahan, and Nicci French walk into a bar…
Just kidding! We have no punchline for that joke but Eddie & Lee do rave about all three authors in the latest episode of Crime Time Podcast!
Among other things, Lee & Eddie review the film adaptation of Doctor Sleep, The Lying Room by couple writers, Nicci French (did we mention they’re actually a married couple?), and the one and only Andrew McGahan’s The Rich Man’s House!
Your fav podcast hosts also share their deepest subreddit mystery holes, what are yours?

Eddie was working in a bridal shop in Flushing, Queens, ’til this podcast came along and truly changed the world! Aside from never reading any books and obnoxiously interrupting anyone who has, Eddie’s many talents include: Never letting this Nanny joke go, killing it at karaoke (as in straight up murder for the ears), and just being generally handsome and wonderful. What’s that, you ask? What is the episode about? Oh, just some great books (think Gilly MacMillan & C.J. Tudor) and films (Stephen King’s 80’s masterpiece Christine) … but back to Eddie!

Oh snap! I guess Lee and Eddie are off to the movies again! That’s right, tuck a mini burrito in your jacket pocket, and sneak several fun-sized chocolate bars into your socks cause it’s time for IT: Chapter Two! Eddie finally read a book from this century and felt pretty good about it (and then obviously complained). And the two of them explore the idea of Pennywise as the embodiment of bigotry.
Too deep? Yeah, me too… Pocket burrito anyone?

In this absolutely brilliant episode of (your fave podcast) Crime Time, Lee crawls into the cinema for a terrifying encounter with an alligator, and Eddie really brings the mood down by talking about actual true crime. But don’t worry, Lee’s got your back with a great recommendation from their latest Netflix binge, and a question about what should go on the back of a book.
If you are a film student who thinks Eddie is stupid for not liking Donnie Darko that one time ten years ago, please send your comments to: literallynooneaskedyou@pleasedonttalktome.com

Last episode, Lee opened the floodgates of Eddie’s inability to stick to genre. Welcome to the ultimate PRIDE AND PREJUDICE mashup! Is this the true crime? Probably.
Lee still wants Eddie to watch Killing Eve, but you know Eddie is still thinking about how to get Mr. Darcy sideburns and hasn’t heard a damn thing. Anyway, watch out for that creepy demon doll at a cinema near you!

What is the definition of suspense? Will Lee and Eddie solve it before time runs out? Will Lee ever stop talking about glass blowing? Will Eddie ever stop trying to get weird books on the show with really thin justification? Will this series of questions ever end? Maybe you will find out in this episode… or will you?
This episode, Lee is on the cutting edge of new and brilliant crime and mystery, with Joshilyn Jackson’s Never Have I Ever, and Eddie is back on their bullshit, reviewing World War I novels from the 90s.

Hoo boy! Eddie has been waiting to watch the IT Part Two trailer just for you guys! Will IT live up to the hype? Will IT be too scary for Eddie to survive? Hard to say, you’d better tune in! And while you’re here we’ve got some great recommendations for your bookshelves! Lee’s keeping that contemporary feel coming with CJ Tudor’s amazing debut, The Chalk Man. Is it a biography of Eddie’s secret undercover life as Banksy? Probably not!
Meanwhile, Eddie wants to start a fight on the internet, because let’s face it, the internet? Wayyyyyy to civil and full of friendly discussion! That’s right, Eddie loves trash, and will do anything for that love–except diss Patricia Cornwell! It’s on!

A whole new episode? You’ve gotta be Jolkien Rolkien Rolkien Tolkien! That’s right, the gang is back and ready to talk about the real issues facing the world today! Like, is a dog biography literature? Is Eddie stretching it a bit? Is Lee going to put up with Eddie’s nonsense? If Eddie suddenly and mysteriously goes missing, is Lee the one responsible?
Only joking folks! Eddie is one hundred percent fine and hasn’t been replaced by a more handsome and slightly cleverer body double called Jed! That would be crazy! Why would you think that was a thing that happened? Ha ha! Oh, you guys! Anyway, here’s Wonderwall.

Oh dang! Guess who it is now (still Lee and Eddie)! We’re back, and never stopping not stopping! This episode we discuss Jordan Peele’s new horrific masterpiece: US, Michelle Dicinoski’s surprisingly non-spooky Ghost Wife, and Stephen King (as Bachman) is back(man)!
We’re also excited to announce the launch of our digital beta and sensitivity reading service, Frank & Co.! Beta reading is a critical step designed to strengthen a writer’s book on the road to publishing! Frank & Co. beta readers will test read your manuscript from the perspective of a general reader and provide a comprehensive report on a whole range of factors including consistency, structural effectiveness, pacing, voice, characterisation, readability, and reader satisfaction!

Oh dang! Stephen King has a secret clone locked in a dairy farm’s basement! Will Lee uncover the truth in time? Will Eddie pen a critically acclaimed screenplay starring Amanda Bynes? Hard to say.
Eddie is moving forward in time, and we leave the 18th century for the wayyyyyy more recent 19th century with Alexandre Dumas’ Count of Monte Christo!

You asked for more, and here we are again!
That’s right, we’re jacking back into the matrix, and like all good sequels, this episode is about Eddie’s revenge! It’s time for Lee to pick up the VR headset and try not to throw it across the room in terror (those things are expensive!)
Tune in to hear Lee plead for mercy, and, in the midst of pure fear, reflect on the damaging nature of mental illness as horror trope! And then scream!

If the Gothic’s weird obsession with Italy has got you down, don’t worry! Lee has a book about everyone’s favourite type of event: A Reunion! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Then our two intrepid hosts are off to the movies, for Halloween, and a bit of a Haunting at Hill House!

Is William of Baskervilles just a sneaky Sherlock Holmes clone? Will Lee recover from the wonder that is Severance in time to review it without weeping? Is Eddie secretly eating books for sustenance?
Find out in this (not at all) suspenseful episode of… Crime Time!

Will Lee get eaten by a ghost? Will Eddie ever figure out how to conjugate the verb ‘to go’? Will Eddie stubbornly use the Australian spelling of favour even though the film is from the US?

Lee and Eddie are back on their bullshit! That’s right, we couldn’t stay away! Eddie has finally defeated the giant bird that follows her everywhere she goes, and Lee has finally convinced Eddie that the bird isn’t real (or is it?).
In this episode Lee reviews the latest installment in the Conjuring franchise, The Nun. And frankly, Eddie’s having nun of it!
Eddie still hasn’t read anything from this century, so it’s time for a blast from the past! (the eighteenth century that is! TBT amiright? No? One day she’ll be relevant!) And it’s the return of one of Lee’s faves, Shari Lapena!

Lee and Eddie are back on their bullshit! That's right, we couldn't stay away! Eddie has finally defeated the giant bird that follows her everywhere she goes, and Lee has finally convinced Eddie that the bird isn't real (or is it?).
In this episode Lee reviews the latest installment in the Conjuring franchise, The Nun. And frankly, Eddie's having nun of it!
Eddie still hasn't read anything from this century, so it's time for a blast from the past! (the eighteenth century that is! TBT amiright? No? One day she'll be relevant!) And it's the return of one of Lee's faves, Shari Lapena!

What’s that? You’re missing your absolute faves, Lee and Eddie? Well they’re back with a whole new episode full of great fiction, terrifying films, and horrific TV show pitches.
Lee is back on Helen Callaghan’s oeuvre with a glowing review of Dear Amy, Eddie’s back on their bullshit with an over-researched review of Liar by Justine Larbalestier, and they both have a lot to say about some spooky–and not so spooky–films.
Too many tabs?

Did you miss us? We sure missed you! So to celebrate how much we love all of you, here’s a brand spanking new episode!
Lee is reading up on liars this week (watch out Eddie!), with reviews of The Liar’s Girl, and Everything is Lies. Eddie’s Netflix recommendations are golden (as usual), and the two can’t stop themselves from asking the big questions in life…
What makes a sexy monster? Are unicorns scary? That’s right! Sexy or Scary is back, and more troubling than before!

Eddie’s back on the metafiction, and just won’t stop insisting that Italo Calvino’s If on a Winter’s Night a Traveler is so cheeky it’s a crime. Lee has your back and comes through with the goods with a review of K.L. Slater’s Liar.
Lee and Eddie talk their most hated ways to end a book, but before Lee can explain why the sequel to Rosemary’s Baby is fundamentally flawed, they wake up, and realise that Eddie, and all of Crime Time was just a dreeeeeeaaaaaam!

http://traffic.libsyn.com/crimetimepodcast/3.1___Sue_Grafton_Rachel_Caine__Magical_Contracts.mp3
Lee and Eddie take a moment to pay their respects to the one and only Sue Grafton, who sadly passed away late last year. Without her amazing work, this podcast would probably never have been made, and we wanted to share some of our favourite moments from her Alphabet series.
Lee has gotten their hands on a copy of Killman Creek, the sequel to the amazing Rachel Caine’s Stillhouse Lake, and they just can’t wait to tell you all about it! Eddie wants to know the answers to the questions that keep us all up late at night, and that is: Is it sexy, or is it scary? That’s right, you’ve always wanted to know if the Fair Folk were straight up sexy, or super scary, and we’re here to answer that!

They’re heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere! That’s right, Lee and Eddie wouldn’t leave you hanging for the holiday season! The last episode of the year has arrived, and it is truly a gift!
Lee reviews Laura Marshall’s chilling Friend Request while Eddie just pales in fear at the idea of making friends. Rachel Caine’s Stillhouse Lake arrives just in time for you to binge the first two of this ongoing series, and Eddie is swooning over the coffee table book/pulp fiction history book of the year!
We will see all of you beautiful people in the new year, with an all-new schedule, and more banter to make your reading life especially extra!

Oh dang! Guess who’s back? It’s your absolute faves, Lee and Eddie!
This week’s episode sees the return of Sexy or Scary, Lee gets chills from Audible’s Thriller of the Year, and Eddie charts the recline of cinema!
So get comfortable (but not too comfortable), and get ready for an absolutely brilliant (if we do say so ourselves) episode of Crime Time Podcast!

This week Lee is doing all the reading while Eddie just watches movies all day and complains about the weather. On Lee’s massive reading list this week (show off) is Michelle Richmond’s The Marriage Pact, and Kristen Lepionka’s The Last Place You Look. Then it’s off to the movies (at Lee’s house, because Eddie’s TV is tiny) for Babak Anvari’s Under The Shadow.
Where is the line between good CGI, and bad? Will Eddie stop eating all of Lee’s snacks? Will Eddie’s directorial debut be a sequel to The Stepford Wives? Find out in this absolutely thrilling episode of Crime Time Podcast!

Lee’s been scarred for life by Resident Evil: Biohazard, Eddie’s been scarred for life by hearing about Resident Evil: Biohazard, and here’s hoping you find it at least intriguing, if not entirely face melting. Eddie reviews Stephen Fry’s The Liar, and they both discuss what it means to be contemporary to a work of fiction, or experientially adjacent.

In today’s episode, Lee and Eddie revisit the wonderful Sue Grafton, Eddie goes to the movies to see a film about an infant chauffeur (and forgets Edgar Wright’s name), and they talk more about what makes great trash.
Will Lee admit that they stole the Borgia Pearl? Will Eddie finally avenge the brutal murder of her goldfish? Will any of this actually feature in the episode?
Find out in this A++, excellent episode of Crime Time Podcast!

Lee gets acquainted with DCI Tom Douglas (out of order, as usual!), Eddie reviews a book published half a century ago (can she get any more insufferable? Spoiler warning: yes), and they are both reminded that the ocean is a terrifying place! Does Lee personally know the Loch Ness Monster? Is Eddie best friends with James Cameron? Do they have submarine parties with Jules Verne? Find out (maybe) in this very excellent episode of Crime Time Podcast!

Eddie spent the past week trying (and failing) to figure out PD James’ Death of an Expert Witness, Lee takes a trip down non-linear memory lane with Megan Miranda’s All the Missing Girls, and they try to figure out whether Patricia Corwell’s Kay Scarpetta and Sue Grafton’s Kinsey Millhone just have really bad luck, or are a bit gung ho for their own good!

Eddie has the flu! That’s right, Lee is risking life and limb by sitting anywhere near the cloud of germs that is Eddie right now. You could say that Eddie is at the centre of The Dead Zone! Or maybe that’s what Lee’s reading this week… Eddie binge-watched the entirety of Trial & Error, and reckons it’s pretty good! Unless that’s just the fever talking! Lee wants to know how anyone survived the invention of the prank show, and Eddie should probably go cancel that order of bees that she was gonna hide in Lee’s car…
All this and more in a frankly excellent episode of Crime Time Podcast!

Lee and Eddie are off to the movies this week! In separate cars! To separate cinemas! To see separate films! No big deal. Lee wandered in to see Wonder Woman, and Eddie was caught off guard by the Guardians of the Galaxy! Eddie still won’t stop asking whether or not things are sexy, and Lee’s starting to get both annoyed and concerned. That’s right, Sexy or Scary is back, so let’s get wild! Oscar Wilde, that is! (See what I did there?)

This week Lee’s sick and Eddie’s tipsy, but the books are great and the banter is even better! Lee reviews The Blue Pool by Siobhan MacDonald, Eddie asks the hard-hitting questions, like would you kiss a vampire? The water theme continues with both our hosts finally reading the same thing for once; will they rave or rant about Sarah Bailey’s debut novel, The Dark Lake? Tune in and find out in episode eleven of Crime Time’s second season!
