Here we are: The last off day before the 2023 season begins.

The trucks have left St. Louis, pitchers and catchers have been reported, and full team workouts have begun. But for me, Cardinals baseball is really my favorite daily TV show. The new season begins on Saturday with the first broadcast from Spring Training.

We banter a bit about the state of the TV Show itself, including the drama surrounding the likely Sinclair/Diamond Sports/Bally bankruptcy, as well as the Chip Caray hiring. Then we answer a big stack of listener questions about the WBC, rule changes, the coming season and beyond.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year - when Dan Szymborski releases his ZiPS projections. And this season is all the more wonderful when those projections suggest the Cardinals will be a 90+ win juggernaut.

We talk through the projections at each projection and use that as an excuse to catch up on the offseason chatter.

In the offseason, we record a new episode when significant news breaks, and that was certainly the case yesterday. Adam Wainwright will return for a final season. Mike Maddux and Jeff Albert both will not return. We also decipher some of the smaller tidbits on John Mozeliak’s lengthy press conference.

The Cardinals postseason was much shorter than any of us hoped, but after a few sobering days, we’re back for one last podcast for the 2022 season.

We talk about the short series and whether there was anything to glean from the results, then we direct the recent Adam Wainwright tweets about his injury and speculate about what the Cardinals may do during the offseason.
