It's time to get serious as the BNQ crew tackle the huge issue of where nerdy franchises intersect with civil rights in this two-part episode. In Part I, Callie interviews Marvel writer Jeremy Whitley about his hit series "Princeless" and what comics get right and wrong about equal representation of races and genders. Joining them for this part are Josh, JP, Matt, and Colleen. This discussion goes deep, but it might be one of the most important discussions we've ever had on the show.
Look out for Part II next week featuring JP's take on the history of racial depictions in animation, Matt's analysis of the X-Men as metaphor for the Civil Rights movement, and Josh's discussion of how Star Trek changed the rules for representation on television. (A fourth section was lost due to technical issues, so apologies for any odd discontinuities.)
