To tie into the recent Super Mario movie release, we decided to cover the early 90s Super Mario World cartoon. The Mario segment is a little boring, even though we have some fun discussing the the weird diversions the creators decided to take from the standard games. The real gem here, though, is the Captain N: The Game Master segment that comes in the second half of the episode. It's a wild 11 minutes, with a surprising guest star, an evil robot AND an evil clock, an Urkel ripoff, and a princess who just wants her dad to come back. It's something.

This week on the show, we're back with another early 2000s action show with a woman protgonist: Sheena, starring three-named actors Gena Lee Nolin and John Allen Nelson. This episode, titled "Divas of the Jungle," features a whole list of things that make you go "Ehhhhhhh," including a character who spouts every homophobic snipe the writers could think of and the most sideboob ever seen in a basic cable TV show. Plus: QUICKSAND!
If you like the show, give us a rating on Apple Podcasts. And follow us on Twitter at @weirdcenter or Instagram at @weirdnesspodcast (where you can suggest TV shows we should cover on the podcast)!
We're kicking off a month of discussing early 2000s syndicated action shows featuring women protagonists with Relic Hunter, an incredibly dumb (but fun!) show starring Tia Carrere. The episode in question, "The Book of Love," features an extremely popular Italian soccer star looking for Casanova's famous sex diary for reasons that aren't incredibly clear. Along the way, we get flailing food fights, statue seduction, irritating innuendos, and the longest opening credits in television history.
If you like the show, give us a rating on Apple Podcasts. And follow us on Twitter at @weirdcenter or Instagram at @weirdnesspodcast (where you can suggest TV shows we should cover on the podcast)!
We're still hanging out with NightMan in Bay City for the return of walking Christian Slater clone Space Face in episode Bad to the Bone. This is a bad episode of a bad television show which completely undercuts any sense of dramatic tension by dumping a 3 minute "previously on" segment at the beginning. Shapeshifting villain Space Face wants to frame Johnny Domino for murder but it's unclear why, since the last time he was around he wanted to kill Johnny's dad and Lt. Dann and doesn't seem to remember they exist this episode. Also, apparently the NigthMan suit is super easy to operate? So basically anyone could be NightMan? Cool.
If you like the show, give us a rating on Apple Podcasts. And follow us on Twitter at @weirdcenter or Instagram at @weirdnesspodcast (where you can suggest TV shows we should cover on the podcast)!
It's our first episode of 2023 and we're heading to Bay City for the entire month to finally discuss the long-forgotten syndicated comic book show Nightman. This episode has all the terrible hallmarks you'd hope for from a late 90s cheaply-made superhero TV show: bad greenscreening, an overacting villain, a nonsensical revenge plot, and an absolutely insane cameo (seriously, do not look it up if you don't already know - we'll tell you all about it). Nightman is an absolutely stupid show and we're so excited to discuss it.
Christmas is just around the corner so we're heading to the North Pole to discuss the frequently-canceled Tim Allen's return as the big red menance: The Santa Clauses. Lots of terrible stuff in this one, from the CGI to the Santa makeup to the ED jokes but there are a couple funny lines (and that's about it). Merry Christmas!
It's the holiday season so it's time for terrible Christmas TV! This week, we're checking out The Wish That Changed Crhsitmas, another special from Romeo Muller, the creator behind the absolutely insane Noel: The Happy Christmas (which we covered last Christmas). This time around, we're faced with an orphan without a solid grasp on what it means to be a grandma, the breathiest talking doll ever, and an overly-animated owl toy that might just be an actual living owl. So crawl onto a pile of dirty blankets and hold your lucky key tight as we discuss this bizarre holiday treat.
We're gearing up for Thanksgiving by discussing one of the most well-known and well-regarded Thanksgiving-themed television episodes ever: WKRP in Cincinnati's "Turkeys Away." We break down the infamous episode and explore what still works after 40 years (chief among them is Richard Sanders's performance as Les Nessman). We also discover an intriguing necktie variation that was apparently invented by a ghost. Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Halloween! To celebrate the spookiest day of the year, we returned to Springwood once more to journey into Freddy's Nightmares. And because it's Halloween, we picked an episode... that has nothing to do with Halloween and barely features the titular Freddy. What it does feature, though, is an alcoholic professor, a trip inside a computer, and an early Kyle Chandler performance. Also, is Freddy a patriot?
On this very special episode, we're joined by friend Christy Admiraal to discuss her favorite episode of her favorite television show: Boy Meets World's slasher movie homage And Then There Was Shawn. We talk scary janitors (who might actually be ghosts), our history with school detention, and celebrity heights.
Listen to Christy on Pizza Toast!
If you like the show, rate and review us wherever you listen, but especially on Apple Podcasts!
Last time we discussed nightmare man Freddy Krueger, and this week we're turning our attention to another nightmare man: Tim Allen. Today on the podcast we're discussing one of the many Home Improvement Halloween episodes: "A Night to Dismember." Youngest son Dark Mark and his goth friend Ronnie just wants to make a horror movie but Jill is worried he actually wants to kill his family, because she's an idiot. After watching this episode, we're pretty sure Mark only wanted to make this movie so he could hang out with Tool Girl Heidi wearing a tight dress.
Things are getting scary... and sexy! This week, we're discussing Freddy's Nightmares, specifically the season 1 finale "Safe Sex," an epsiode that doesn't really talk about safe sex at all. But it does have two nerds obsessed with a goth chick (who in turn is obsessed with a certain burned maniac). This show is a wild ride, full of bad puns, weird insults (spud boy?), and a woman getting turned into a smoke cloud and inhaled.
Today is Labor Day, which means summer is (un)officially over and the Spooky Season has begun! To bridge the gap between heat and treats, we're getting scared at summer camp with the notorious "Zeke The Plumber" episode of Salute Your Shorts! If you want to know what's inside our heads, you don't need a plunger of terror, you just need to listen to this episode!
Things are still hot, so this week we're heading down to Key Maria and meeting up with some really sexy private detectives in Tropical Heat. There's a lot to unpack here, including how quickly a band was pulled together, what bartenders will put up with, and how this show radicalized an entire country (we'll explain).
We're still enjoying the sunshine in our unofficial Summer Series by discussing the first episode (maybe?) of 90s teen show California Dreams! There's lots of bad music, terrible characters, and a couple pretty racist things - and this is the pilot! No wonder they retooled this show every single season.
If you enjoy the podcast, give us a review on iTunes or wherever you listen!
This week things get hot as we head to the beach and check out the bicycle cops of Pacific Blue! The episode in question, "The Pheonix," has everything we could've wanted: a ghost with a flamethrower, a Hannibal Lecter-wannabe, a meth-addled rat, a rollerblading snake handler, AND a wet T-shirt contest. Seriously, this show has it all and then some.
If you like the show, rate and review us wherever you listen!
Burritos are ready! This week on the show, it's time to check in with another secret robot: Small Wonder! This episode is all about making burritos and starting a small burrito business despite being a terrible burrito businessman. Also, why is this show aimed at kids so damn sexual? Plus: we spend a good 10 minutes or so discussing other episodes of this show that are shocking/we will probably cover at some point.
CW: The episode we discuss does deal briefly with the topic of teen suicide
This week, we're joined by our first ever guest on Center of Weirdness: author and podcaster extraordinaire Beau North! And she's brought with her a show with extremely bad SEO. It's Evil, and on this episode there's a sinister song that will get stuck in your head forever and then will make you stab yourself in the ear. Beau walks us through the show and fills in some of the backstory. We also discuss our own personal earworm songs that we can't shake loose.
Check out Beau's podcasts Let's Get Weirding and Excessively Diverted
Read her work at The Spool.
This week on the show we're uncovering the secrets of The Pentaverate, the newest comedy creation from master of disguise Mike Myers. Well, we only watched episode 4 so there might be some secrets we missed. Honestly we only wanted to know why Shrek showed up so we just watched that episode. But there's so much more to it than that, including comedy legend Jennifer Saunders slumming it and some jokes that would've been dated back in the 90s. But maybe we're too dumb to get it. Or too woke. One or the other.
This week things are getting freaky as we discuss early 2000s Blair Witch-meets-X-Files series Freaky Links! Hey, did you know the Cretaceous period was a long, long, LONG time before the Civil War? Why is that important? Oh, you'll see.
This week on the show we're heading back to the heyday of 70s TV comedy to discuss Holmes & Yoyo, a tremendously bizarre cop show about a bumbling detective and his occasionally malfunctioning robot partner. In the half-hour pilot, we get chest calculators, pratfalls that probably actually hurt, and gags that go on way too long. Oh, and Jay Leno is here.
This week on the show we're heading to the far-off land of Grundo to discuss the surprisingly deep cartoon The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin. We're specifically talking about the penultimate episode, where a secondary villain gets married and a bunch of other stuff happens that we can't understand. We really have no idea what's going on but we do know this: Teddy Ruxpin might be the most serialized cartoon of all time. Enjoy!
This week, we're hitting the open road with 18 Wheels of Justice, a show that has the courage to cast actual piece of human garbage G. Gordon Liddy as a bad guy! We also get a Peyton Manning clone as a crooked cop, a chili negotiation, and some gold up in them thar hills. Not enough actual truck driving though.
On this week's episode, we're talking about claymation interstitials-turned-series Bump In The Night, easily one of the most frenetic shows we've ever seen! We also try to figure out exactly what Bumpy and Squishington are, discover what fast food outlet offered Bumpy toys, and cringe hard talking about these musical numbers.
This week we're talking about action movie-turned-dull TV series Timecop! We barely get acquainted with the future -- the year 2007 to be exact -- before traveling into the past to fight Jack The Ripper. Well, not the actual Jack The Ripper, but a time traveling misogynist incel with a lightning knife who has killed him and taken his place. Plus, riddles and tabloids and H.G. Wells.
Have you wondered how we picked our website URL (centerofweird.com) but were too afraid to ask? Lucky for you, the mics were hot when we talked through our options and we're releasing this short bonus episode while you wait for Episode 2.
In this inaugural episode of our new mainline show, we return to our roots to see what's happening in Eerie, Indiana: The Other Dimension! We find it hard to believe no one in 1998 Eerie had ever heard of satellite dishes before. We're also curious what was on that Jell-O channel. Plus Bigfoot and Elvis, two things we've come to expect from our trips to Eerie.
In this brief intro episode, we lay out what to expect on this new direction for the show and tease what's to come.
Our first full episode drops Monday, February 7th. See you then.
On the last day of 2021, it's the last mini episode of the year -- and forever! That's right: we're changing the show next year and if you want to know how WEIRD things are going to get, you'll have to listen to this episode! Happy New Year!

As the month ends, we're heading to hell to meet up with our old buddy Pinhead in Hellraiser: Deader. This isn't as fun as Hellraiser: Hellworld, but there's still plenty here to talk about. We've got an intrepid reporter who really commits to her writing, a goth rave train that doesn't make any logical sense, and a cult leader who might as well be the frontman of a 90s alt rock band. Also, the Lament Configuration remains too easy to solve.

This week's film -- 1984's Fear City -- is a perfect example of judging a film by its poster. It looked like it was gonna rule and it DID! We get everything you'd want from a movie like this: sleazy 80s NYC, a slasher who does karate and fancies himself a writer, tons of nudity, a mistaken identity-fueled kitchen brawl, a character with not one but two tragic backstories, and a completely ineffective, racist cop played by Billy Dee Williams. This is a special one.

This week on the show, we're headed into bottom-of-the-barrel low-budget action territory with Razor Sharpe! This is a vanity project of the highest order, showcasing our hero Justin Sharpe's amazing ability to catch arrows, ride jet skis, and wear shirts with no sleeves and blown-out neck holes. This week, we're heading to the Space Ren Fair of the future to talk 1998's failed TV pilot The Osiris Chronicles! Directed by Joe Dante with none of the flair he brought to bigger budget work, this wannabe Star Trek stars John Corbett as the very futuristically-named Justin Thorpe, a man trying to rescue his kidnapped sister. We also meet many characters far more interesting than him, including goopy aliens, super cool psychic friends, and old Republicans. What more could you want from a movie?

Our first official episode of season 5 is here! This week we're discussing 1997's T.N.T., a movie wherein Olivier Gruner gives up his life as a mercenary for Eric Roberts and builds a new life with a fake identity, friends, a girlfriend, and a successful business all in less than a year. But before discussing all that, we spend the first couple minutes talking about the show 18 Wheels of Justice for some reason. We also cannot remember Randy Travis's daughter's name to save our lives. We're back baby!

This week we're prepping for the long holiday weekend with the wholly unnecessary sequel Weekend At Bernie's II! How have Richie and Larry learned no lessons from the first film (which took place maybe a week ago)? Also, how much did Terry Kiser get paid to be tossed around? We also think about what could've been: Pirate Bernie.

We've reached the end of our trip to Eerie, Indiana with the de facto series finale, the extremely meta "Reality Takes A Holiday." This one is a bit of a letdown (just because it's the end) but we still have some fun. We puzzle over why Dash X so badly wants to murder Marshall, develop a new game involving Deloreans, and find a new life goal for Josh.

The show is on a roll with another great episode: Zombies in P.J.'s! Bob Balaban is back as director for a story that has a lot on its mind, from consumerism to taxes to our former president, even if it's not clear where they fall on these issues. It's a solid episode and it's a bummer the show is almost over.

This time we're joining a secret society and talking one of the best Eerie episodes "The Loyal Order of the Corn." There's a lot to love in this one, from finally getting Dash X's name to getting a helluva monologue from guest star Ray Walston. In "Who's Who," we're introduced to another abusive family in Eerie (because there's a lot of those in town). One member of the family is a budding artist with a magic pencil that can make her drawings real, but the only thing she wants is a mom (Marsh's mom, in fact). This one raises a lot of existential questions, like the best episodes of this show do!

This week, we're talking extremely awkward episode The Broken Record, which was so harsh they pushed it to the end of the show's run to avoid controversy! We've got a legitimately mean dad, a maybe Nazi rock band, and a cop trying to impress a teenage girl with stories of him pulling his gun on a suspect. Cool cool cool. Nothing wrong here at all.

For the first part of 2021, Predict-O-Cast is taking a break from releasing new episodes. While we're away, we're releasing episodes previously available only on Patreon. We'll be back with new episodes sometime in 2021. We promise.
Today, we're dropping our May 24, 2019, episode on the Steve Martin/Rick Moranis mafia comedy My Blue Heaven. Why is Steve Martin a cartoon character? When does Rick Moranis's character go to the bathroom everyday? Does William Hickey's voice send shivers down your spine?

This week, we're dropping our Feb 21, 2019, episode on the third film in the Divergent series (without having seen the first two). We're in over our heads here. Who's Amity? Who's Divergent? Who could care? We also delve into the stupidest nickname ever and Skinner gets mad.

This week, we're dropping our Jan 25, 2019, episode on the Disney classic Bedknobs and Broomsticks. We speculate what would change if this movie was remade today, we question why some things in this movie take SO LONG to get through, and we do some bad English accents.

At the end of 2020, we're revisiting films from the past four years of the podcast and discussing them with some of our favorite folks.
We close up our Rehash Month with a look back at 1987's deal-with-the-devil comedy HUNK! We're joined by all-around class act Phil Gonzales, host of Deep in Bear Country and Pizza Toast. We dig into how this movie is tamer than it seems, wonder how the director got it made, and then learn A LOT about living statues. It's a good way to wrap up 2020.

Happy Holidays! As a special bonus, we've unlocked our previously-paywalled episode on 2000's Santa Who?, starring Leslie Nielsen as an amnesiac Kris Kringle.
Originally released on Patreon during our Christmas in July event in 2018, this made-for-TV movie features some annoying elves, an absolute asshole protagonist, and a totally deplorable family who can't be bothered to look for a missing relative for like a decade. On the plus side, we do come up with a cool idea for a holiday-themed horror film.

Brian & Josh bring a super unique format to the world of podcasting: they find a movie that neither of them has seen, watch the first 10 minutes of it, and make predictions as to what will happen next. The next episode has them review the rest of the film and see how their predictions lined up with the actual plot. Both hosts are warm, funny and bring a truly unique voice to the world of funny film podcasts. Check it out!!
