Welcome to the second episode of the Wonder Twins Power Podcast with Iain Kidd and Stephie Haynes. This show is an offshoot of the Three Amigos Podcast that allows us to delve a little deeper into current MMA issues that warrant closer inspection and conversation. Saturday night, UFC 230 took place with very little fanfare and a mixed reaction to the card, particularly the main event, a heavyweight title bout between current champ (champ) Daniel Cormier and Number 2 contender Derrick Lewis. The fight went predictably, with Cormier taking an easy win, becoming the first man to submit Lewis, and making it look easy in the process. That said, some fans were unimpressed, and more than a few of those that were cageside at the event even booed during Cormier’s dominant performance. We discuss the particulars of the fight, whether that fan reaction was justified and where we feel Cormier performs best, at light heavyweight or heavyweight. The second topic revolves around a performance enhancing drug that’s become very common in USADA test failures. In this segment, we break down Ostarine from a science perspective (and by “we” Stephie asks the questions and Iain does the heavy lifting), and why so many athletes are finding themselves getting sanctioned for it. Our high-quality, professionally produced podcasts can now be found on their Bloody Elbow Presents SoundCloud, iTunes, and YouTube channels.
