For 18 months, the Securities and Exchange Commission has been weighing how to finalize its climate risk disclosure rule. California may have just helped clear the path for the Wall Street regulator with its own landmark legislation. But it’s not clear whether the SEC will follow California's lead or go its own way. POLITICO’s Jordan Wolman breaks down how California’s legislation could impact the SEC’s rulemaking process. Plus, Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) said he is preparing legal action against the Biden administration’s interpretation of which electric vehicles can qualify for lucrative incentives under the Inflation Reduction Act.    For more news on energy and the environment, subscribe to Power Switch, our free evening newsletter: https://www.politico.com/power-switch And for even deeper coverage and analysis, read our Morning Energy newsletter by subscribing to POLITICO Pro: https://subscriber.politicopro.com/newsletter-archive/morning-energy   Catherine Morehouse is an energy reporter for POLITICO and the host of the POLITICO Energy podcast.
