Submit ReviewFor many years, there has been the assumption that anything related to people inside of an organization is only the responsibility of HR.
HR does the recruiting, hiring, firing, benefits, compensation, policies, and all the people-related tasks.
I'm not saying that as a leader you need to do all of these things. But as a leader, you are ultimately responsible for your people. And that is very much an HR responsibility.
Sometimes we forget the power and responsibility a leader truly has. You have the power to make or break someone's day.
As a leader, you need to know your employees as human beings, not just as workers.
You need to know what your people care about and what they value.
You need to know their strengths and weaknesses and how you can help them shine.
You need to unlock their potential and make sure they succeed.
People don't leave companies, they leave leaders. So as a leader, you are arguably the most important part of the HR department.
