Submit ReviewThursday's show was centered largely around a lineup choice Darvin Ham made against San Antonio that Lakers fans find particularly irksome, namely playing Dennis Schroder, Russell Westbrook and Pat Beverley at the same time. Three guards? Not necessarily a problem. THOSE three? A problem.
In the comments of the YouTube section, many listeners/viewers felt Ham was being given too much leeway by the hosts (or one of them, at least). So with the news today that Lonnie Walker IV is getting very close to a return, and Austin Reaves is getting closer as well (and now having Anthony Davis available, and in a post-Rui Hachimura trade world), it all begs the question:
With everyone healthy, who should be in Ham's rotation?
So for Friday, it's a look at starting lineups, closing lineups, and the guys who will play and those who won't. At least not every game. Spoiler alert: Some guys who have played significant minutes, including some quality minutes, are likely to get squeezed. Some of the questions are related to Hachimura, and his ability to fit in defensively. What if he can, but what if he can't? What's the ripple effect? More importantly, Lakers fans and podcast hosts alike can all give their opinions about who ought to be playing or not, or whether THAT 3-guard lineup should ever see the light of day, again.
What matters is Ham, and the choices he makes. Does he keep trotting out that trio, who played 12 minutes together on Wednesday?
Meanwhile, Bleacher Report's Eric Pincus reports that the Lakers are among the teams that would be interested in Toronto guard Fred VanVleet should the Raptors decide to make him available. Is he worth two first round picks? Man alive, that's a tough call, and gets to the heart of the questions facing Rob Pelinka and the Lakers about when to make a trade, and which players are worth pulling the trigger for (especially in relation to those picks).
Finally, Thrusday marked the three-year anniversary of the tragic plane crash that killed Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gigi, and seven others. (Payton Chester, 13; Sarah Chester, 45; Alyssa Altobelli, 14; Keri Altobelli, 46; John Altobelli, 56; Christina Mauser, 38; and the helicopter's pilot, Ara Zobayan, 50.) On this day, we relay a couple of our favorite moments covering Kobe.
