While it might seem pretty obvious that the White House is emotionally and politically haunted, especially right now, did you know that it is also allegedly haunted by ghosts? Former presidents, first ladies, pets, children, and staff workers are a few of the ghosts roaming around the White House. Michelle and Barack Obama reported hearing strange noises in the hallway and feeling gnawing at their feet. Jenna Bush claimed she heard piano music coming out of her fire place. Mary Todd Lincoln held seances in the red room in attempts to channel the dead. Which president is the grumpiest ghost? Which First Lady is aggressively protective of the rose garden, and who is stuck doing laundry?

We interview DC Ghost Tour Guide Erin Dunn of DC by Foot to talk about the Old Stone House (where ghosts specifically haunt women) and the Exorcist Stairs in Georgetown.

Historian Daniel Tana talks about the truth behind the many spooky legends of one of the oldest buildings in DC- The Octagon House. Is it haunted by Colonel Tayloe’s daughters who fell down the staircase and died? Do the service bells ring inexpliclably? Who is the man in black often spotted at night?

ALSO: Dolley Madison, James Madison’s wife, is cool as hell and has a Hostess bakery brand named after her.
