Ontario Premier Doug Ford adjourned the legislature in June, and then was gone for about five months—the longest break for a legislature in a quarter-century. Then, one week after the federal election, Ford and his Conservative government returned to Queen's Park. And...now what?
Why was Ford gone so long? That depends on who you ask. But there's no denying that the government is hoping to use the extended break as a reset, for their tone, for some of their policies and hopefully for their poll numbers. Will it work? Or is the province too divided to come together on a common agenda?
