On today’s episode, I’m sitting down with women’s rights activist and Singapore’s first ever burlesque performer. Coming from a very conservative, traditional family, growing up this week’s guest stifled her creativity and expression to please her family - but always knew there’d come a point she needed to let it be free. When it came to career choices, she first followed a more conventional path on entering the world of IT. Starting her first job in the UK, she spotted a burlesque club down the street from her office and everything changed. From her first solo show to performing on some of the biggest stages in the world and changing legislation in her home country, she has quite the story to tell. Here’s what it’s like to be Sukki Menon, otherwise known as Sukki Singapora.
