Here we are on a playoff-less Friday afternoon with a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio as we all try to figure out what went wrong and what the journey looks like to get out of the darkness. With a week behind us since the Edmonton Oilers got bounced from the playoffs, we all had plenty of time to put our thoughts together as we tried to figure out what went wrong and what needs to change before the start of next season. To kick things off, we looked at what is the Oilers' biggest need going into the offseason and which position is the most important in order to turn this ship around. Is it goaltending? Is it more scoring depth? Defence? One thing is for sure, the goaltending wasn't nearly good enough in the play-in series so we tried to figure out what would be the best way to fix the problems between the pipes. Another thing that the Oilers could certainly use is some more scoring up front, but getting that done will not be easy. So what's the solution? Would Ken Holland consider trading a bigger ticket item like a left-handed defenceman if it meant getting a bonafide scorer coming back the other way? Back to the play-in round against Chicago, we wrapped up the series by trying to pinpoint the biggest problems that led to the loss and what the team needs to do to fix those issues. We also looked at some of the rumours and strange comparisons that are circling the Oilers on social media this week, including the notion that Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl need to focus more on defence rather than individual awards and a potential fit between Edmonton and Toronto.
