Today’s reading is from the gospel of Matthew, chapter 5, verses 43 through 48. As we listen, can I open my heart to what the Holy Spirit might want me to hear? Are there any words or phrases that specially stand out to me today? Jesus said, 43 “You have heard it that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor. Hate your enemy.’ 44 But here is what I tell you. Love your enemies. Pray for those who hurt you. 45 Then you will be children of your Father who is in heaven. He causes his sun to shine on evil people and good people. He sends rain on those who do right and those who don’t. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Even the tax collectors do that. 47 If you greet only your own people, what more are you doing than others? Even people who are ungodly do that. 48 So be perfect, as your Father in heaven is perfect. (NIRV) God, we love because you first loved us. Root us in your love, so that we are like trees planted by living streams. And as we receive all that you give, help us to love not just with our words but with our whole lives, so that everyone will know we are your children. Send your love through us into this world you have made. In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.  We Wonder is written and hosted by Sarah Dahl, and is produced by Richard Clark and Nick Thompson.
