Episode Notes

SPOILERS!!! FOR ALL PUBLISHED BOOKS IN #GRRM'S A Song of Ice and Fire AS WELL AS ALL TELEVISED EPISODES OF HBO'S *Game of Thrones...

Born amidst salt and smoke... Just off the Long Island Expressway... And beneath a bleeding star...

This week, #TPTWP, along with their Very Small Council have chosen the 2nd episode of Season 4 to provide live commentary for.

Do The Promised Princes have a special guest star to assist with the commentary? Asking a silly question like that won't cost you your tongue, as #TPTWP are kind and merciful... but it should.

PBlizz, Uncle Pyp, or Patrick if you're nasty, prepares his keep for a Royal visit and an even more Royal viewing of 'The Lion and The Rose.' This is the final episode written by George R. R. Martin, the one time contributor to Game of Thrones via his novelization of the television program- a huge page count of words seperated into five books that are called 'A Song of Ice and... something...' or something along those lines.

This oddly different take on the television story is sometimes quite similar to the show and oftentimes very different and far more complex. The strangest quality of Mr. Martin's novelization is that they were written BEFORE the program even aired! Some parts of his novelization were written as much as 15 years before HBO even chose to put the program into production.

Having spoke directly to #TPTWP about this curiosity, it is safe to tell you, loyal listener, that John and SeannieWan have both admitted: if they didn't know better, they might mistake the television show as being an adaptation of the books that Mr. Martin wrote. This isn't possible, however, as no writer, artist, or creative person with any self-respect would allow their story to be finished by a television adaption- especially if this writer, artist, or creative person had a 15 year head start on the story.

The Princes That Were Promised are John and SeannieWan. Every week they tear apart Westeros and sift through the pieces to bring their Leal and Loyal Subjects the history of the Realm and The Known World from both George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire and HBO's adaptation, Game of Thrones.
