Submit ReviewAs fighting continues in Gaza, the UN is set to take a major vote on whether to recognise Palestine as full member of the global body. The move would be a major victory for Palestinian diplomats and put them a step closer to international recognition of a Palestinian state.
The US is expected to oppose the resolution. Feda Abdelhady, Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Observer with the Palestinian delegation at the UN says full membership would reaffirm the right of Palestinian people to self-determination and sovereignty, she says it's also a way of making "irreversible" the two-state solution.
