Everton progressed into the 3rd round of the Carabao Cup after a 3-1 win over Championship side Rotheram. Before kick off there was a sense of anticipation as to what the starting line-up would be. After all, 22 years without silverware, Evertonians were anxious to see how strong Silva would go. Silva made eight changes. Injuries to certain players surely contributing to his decision making. Even Sandro, on the verge of a loan move back to Spain got a run out. Everton fans didn’t see that one coming. Perhaps neither did Sandro. In the end, it didn’t matter. Despite conceding a late goal, yet again from a set-piece, the Blues looked relatively comfortable throughout. The win and progression into the next round, was all that mattered. As always, there is plenty to discuss following a game.
