You need to know before you host or jump on one.

Everyone’s getting on video meetings these days. There are one, two, three things you need to know before you host or jump on one.

Number One: The first thing people are going to look at is YOU!

• Be sure you have good lighting on yourself.
• Be sure you are looking directly at the camera.
  • Don’t have it looking up your nose.
  • Don’t be looking to the side.
    • Test this out!

Number Two: Your background.

• This is a great background because you don’t notice it.
  • Too many people have pictures, books, trophies in the background.
    • If I’m trying to figure out what that book is, I’m not looking at you.
      • I need to look at you because nonverbal communication surpasses verbal.

Number Three: They’re going to listen.

• People will watch bad video. They won’t listen to bad audio.
• If you have an older laptop with a little bitty microphone, it’s going to sound like you’re in a tunnel.
  • People will tune it out.
  • Invest in a good microphone.
