Mary Pat Tucker, suicide prevention coordinator at Ann Arbor VAMC CBOC in Toledo, discusses a VA program titled "Preventing Veteran Suicide by Partnering with Faith-Based Organizations."  Only three VA healthcare systems are currently participating.  The outreach program is designed to help faith-based organizations provide the necessary tools to veterans struggling with mental health and thoughts of suicide through the “power of one.” Meaning it only takes one person to help prevent more veteran suicides through being able to provide information about resources or learning how to ask the difficult questions.  Twenty-one suicides happen in the U.S. every day with one suicide being an active military member and another 20 being veterans.  Tucker discusses with host Jim Fausone this unique program.
