Dr. Andrea Asoni discusses his research that conventional wisdom that military recruits are from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds is wrong in this post 9/11 environment.  He talks about the article he and colleagues wrote for the Journal of Strategic Studies.  They looked at income, wealth, cognitive skills, and race/ethnicity of today's recruits.  He tells host Jim Fausone the recruits are averarge or above in all of those areas.  The importance of skilled recruits and the implication on technology used and thwarting China is discussed.
