Health experts are calling on the Government to urgently change the way care is provided for those with osteoarthritis. They say long hospital waiting lists for joint replacement surgery are an ongoing dilemma, and occasional funding boosts can never keep up. Instead, they want more funding to go to allied healthcare, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and dietician support. Otago University Research Professor Haxby Abbott spoke to Susie Ferguson.
