There are hopes this morning ADF helicopters will be able to evacuate residents who were left stranded by the devastating floods in far north Queensland.  About 300 Wujal Wujal residents are expected to be transferred to Cooktown.

Federal Emergency Minister, Murray Watt told RN Breakfast advice from the Bureau of Meteorology had been "first class". He says an "incredibly unpredictable weather system" was behind the floods, and the level of damage across communities will mean a there is a "pretty expensive repair bill".
