'How can you amass millions of followers?' That's the question we will be asking our guest, Vivien, for this episode. She has over one million followers across two of the most popular Chinese social media platforms (Douyin - the Chinese version of TikTok and Weibo)! In this episode, Vivien talks with us about the oftentimes empowering and sometimes overwhelming experience of being an influencer in China. With her unique perspective as a full-time university professor and part-time influencer, Vivien answers our questions from "how did you become famous" to addressing the social pressures faced by women influencers as well as explaining the intersection between China's influencer culture and online economy.
