Submit ReviewThis is one of my most fun interviews yet! I was joined by Kara Elise to dive into the Enneagram tool. Kara is a health and wellness chef that has studied the Enneagram for over 10 years. Her love and knowledge of this tool is obvious, as you’ll see, so much so, that she’s hosted Enneagram dinner parties! We didn’t waste any time digging right into what this handy little tool can do, and what each number on the circle means.
What does your Enneagram number say about you?
What we’re talking about
What the Enneagram Is
Many of you have probably heard of the Enneagram, or seen it as a quiz on social media, but you may not know that it’s not a test at all! It’s a tool designed to help you learn more about why you think, feel, & behave in particular ways all based on your core motivations and your core fears. The more we know about ourselves, the more we can help to empathize with others to understand them in a deeper way.
It’s All Coming Full Circle - What the Enneagram Numbers Mean
The Enneagram tool is based on a circle, and has numbers one through nine around it. Each of the numbers signifies a way of how you relate to and perceive the world. Each is also coordinated with personality traits, and a significant fear. There are three basic “centers” of the Enneagram. The “instinctual center” is paired with numbers 8, 9, and 1, and processes things more from a gut feeling. While the numbers 2, 3, and 4 are matched to the “emotional center” and operate more from the heart and how they “feel” about a situation. Lastly, the “intellectual center” is partnered with the numbers 5, 6, and 7, which are said to proceed from more of a logistical “is this true” approach.
How You Can Make the Enneagram Work For You
While this can be used as just a fun tool to share with your friends, it can be a tremendously useful tool to learn more about yourself! You could take the questionnaire, and go with the result that is given to you, but an even more accurate way to use the Enneagram is to read the description of each number and see which one aligns closest with how you think, feel, and behave. Some go so far as to use this tool to help narrow down career choices, life decisions, and relating to those around you in many relationships!
How will you use your Enneagram results to benefit you?
