Bloody Elbow fight experts, Zane Simon & Eddie Mercado, are here to breakdown the UFC 268 PPV event, which was broadcast from Madison Square Garden, NY, NY. The guys will have hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event. The UFC showcased the rematch for the UFC WW Championship in the main event. We had reigning Champ, Kamaru Usman, who was on a 20-fight win streak (the longest active streak in the division), sporting a 19-1 fight record, defending his title in this rematch against returning contender, former Interim UFC WW champion, #1 ranked Colby Covington, with a 16-2 record.Meanwhile, the Co-main event featured our 2nd title fight rematch battle tonight for the UFC SW Championship featuring current champ, Rose Namajunas, with a record of 11-4. She was determined to triumph once again over the #1 ranked contender, Weili Zhang, with a 21-2 record. Prior to the title fights, we were graced with a promising showdown including BWs, former UFC LW champion, #8 ranked BW contender, Frankie Edgar, with a 23-9 fight record vs. the #13 ranked Marlon Vera, with a 17-7 record. Not to be forgotten, was an exciting matchup between FWs, Shane Burgos, & Billy Quarantillo, which was a banger, setting a new record for the most significant strikes landed in a 3-Rd FW fight. We had a highly-anticipated LW match between Justin Gaethje & 1st-year UFC phenom, the former 3-time Bellator LW champion, Michael Chandler, in what was now our main card opener. This fight had FOTN, or maybe even FOTY written all over it.Our featured prelim bout was a clash between MWs Andreas Michailidis and the spectacular UFC promotional debut of kickboxing sensation, Alex Pereira... which did not disappoint, as part of our 9-bout undercard... which had plenty of bouts worth discussing.Overall, this now 14-bout card saw 2 1st Rd finishes, 7 KO/TKO’s, no subs, & 7 decisions, 1 split. Rounding things out, bonuses for putting forth POTN efforts went to Marlon Vera, Chris Barnett, Alex Pereira, & Bobby Green; FOTN honors went to Justin Gaethje vs. Michael Chandler. Here’s a look at the UFC 268: ‘USMAN VS COVINGTON 2’ updated fight records & results —ESPN+ PPV MAIN CARD | SAT.
