Zane Simon & Eddie Mercado are back tonight, Sat., March 6th., 2021, to breakdown the UFC 259 PPV event. The guys will have hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event. Tonight, the UFC showcased 3 title battles, for the UFC LHW Championship, the UFC Women’s FW Championship & the UFC BW Championship – all on the main card of the UFC 259 PPV event, which was broadcast from the Apex Center, Las Vegas, NV. Returning to the octagon for the main event, we had the reigning UFC LHW Champion, Jan Blachowicz, with his remarkable 27-8 record defending his title against the reigning UFC MW Champion, ‘The Last Stylebender’ Israel Adesanya, 1 of the best strikers in all of MMA, entering with his impressive, undefeated 20-0 record. In the co-main, we had the highly predictable Women’s UFC FW Championship between ‘The Lioness’, Amanda Nunes, entering the octagon with a strong #1 ranked 20-4 record vs. Megan Anderson, with her #5 ranked 10-4 record. Nunes was a massive favorite heading into this fight, as Nunes is the 1st woman to become a 2-division UFC champion, and the 3rd fighter in UFC history to hold titles in 2 weight classes simultaneously. She is also the 1st & only fighter in UFC history to defend 2 titles while actively holding them. Our 3rd title fight of the event was a contest between a grappler and a striker for the UFC BW Championship. The reigning champion Petr Yan & the #1 ranked contender, Aljamain ‘Funk Master’ Sterling went to battle for four rounds, ending in a DQ. Also on the card, we had an exciting LHW bout taking place between fight veteran ‘Maretta’ (The Sledgehammer) Thiago Santos, with his storied 21-8 career record matched up against the up-and-comer Aleksandar Rakić sporting a 13-2 record (with only 1 loss since Oct, 2011). These bouts were preceded by a fully-packed 10 bout undercard. Overall, this fully intact 15-bout card saw 3 1st Rd finishes, 3 subs, & 5 exciting KO/TKO, 6 decisions - 1 split, & 1 DQ victory. Rounding things out, bonuses for putting forth POTN efforts went to Uros Medic, Kai Kara-France; FOTN honors went to Kennedy Nzechukwu vs. Carlos Ulberg. What a night of fights we have to share with you, join us to discuss all the action...
