Traci Sexton shares a patient’s perspective on healthcare on this episode of the Perspectives on Healthcare podcast with Rob Oliver. Traci is from Indiana, Pennsylvania (a town just north of Pittsburgh.) Traci is an amazing story that includes her own diagnosis with arthritis at age 7 and her daughter’s experience with transverse myelitis. This is interview 55 in the world record setting patient’s perspective interview marathon. This episode features the first half of the interview.

Here are 3 things that stood out as Traci Sexton shared a patient’s perspective on healthcare:

  • There is a fine line between sharing your symptoms with a medical professional and being asked to self diagnose. This is especially true as a parent talking about your children’s medical condition.
  • Your health insurance company can be a Healthcare Hero by advocating for your needs and helping to resolve billing issues.
  • Quality healthcare is about providing solutions. Medical professionals should be honest. If they have a solution, share it. If they don’t, admit it.
