It's 25 years this year since Timor-Leste voted for independence from Indonesia, with Timor-Leste President Jose Ramos Horta telling Radio National Breakfast it showed "diplomacy can still prevail."

And while the country now boasts one of the strongest democracies in south-east Asia,  economically, it's heading toward a cliff - and there are concerns over a recent collaboration with China.
