After another week where horrific murders of women by current or former partners made headlines, protesters took to the streets across the country over the weekend.

State and federal authorities are under growing pressure to do more than meet violence and tragedy with fine words, thoughts and prayers. The Prime Minister - who was heckled when he gave an impromptu address to a crowd of protesters - has promised a national cabinet on Wednesday will focus on women's safety.
