Submit ReviewSea ice around Antarctica is reaching record lows this year and knowing what the region was like before human intervention will help decide how to respond. Eric Steig is the chair of the Departments of Earth and Space Sciences at the UW. He studies ice cores, long samples taken from within ice sheets and high mountain glaciers, to look at past climate. Soundside Producer Brandi Fullwood went to visit Eric Steig in his lab (and the ice core freezer!).
