The New York Yankees drop the first game to the Tampa Bay Rays, 5-1, at the Stadium. Jhony Brito, who was starting in the place of Domingo Germán, gave up five runs on six hits—four of them home runs—in four innings of work and then was replaced by Domingo Germán, who came out of the bullpen. It was a weird night at the Stadium. Tyler Glasnow shut down the Yankees’ offense, resulting in another loss. So now, do they sell? Do they do anything? Stacey and Steve try to figure that out. They discuss some of the moves other teams have made before the deadline that the Yankees could have made or that the Yankees were connected to and wonder if they ever really had plans to do anything. Also, if they’re selling at the deadline on Tuesday, who could they realistically sell at this point? Then Stacey and Steve preview the second game of the set between Zach Eflin and Carlos Rodón and talk about how they don’t envy Aaron Boone having to figure out the lineup every night, given how anemic the offense is.
