On today's episode of Locked on Wild, we discuss the two outcomes that are in play for the rest of the 2024 season: either fight back into the playoff conversation or consider this a season that won't result in a playoff appearance. We start with the potential for a "soft reset" in which the Wild look at this season as one where they won't be able to make it to the postseason. With the combination of injuries and games lost to critical Western Conference opponents, every day that goes by looks like an opportunity squandered that will at some point be too tall of a mountain to climb. We discuss letting injuries fully heal as opposed to rushing players back and how the end of the season could be spun into a positive if young players continue to develop, as opposed to a year where "making the playoffs" as the ultimate goal didn't happen. We also look at the math as to what would have to happen for the Wild to leapfrog the 6 teams they are currently chasing in the West.
